Burglary occurs in Monroe Boro

State police said they are trying to determine who broke into Earl F. Decker's residence on James Monroe Avenue in Monroe Borough.

The burglar used a prying mechanism to enter Decker's rear door and stole four rifles from the residence, police said.

The burglary occurred sometime between July 4 and July 7, state police said.

False alarm citation pending against Wysox store

State police said that they have responded to four false burglary alarms within a 12-month period at the Dollar General store on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox Township.

The most recent false alarm was on Aug. 13, state police said.

A business may not, after causing or permitting three false alarms to occur in a 12-month period, cause or permit a subsequent false alarm to occur in the same 12-month period, police said.

A citation for Control of Alarm Devices and Automatic Dialing Devices, which is a summary offense, is pending against the Dollar General store in Wysox District Court, police said.

Burglary occurs at Towanda physician's office

A burglary recently occurred at the Caribou Medical office, 520 Main St., Towanda, police said.

Nothing was affected that could lead to identity theft, said Shelia Leljedal, an employee at Caribou Medical.

The burglar or burglars "were only after one thing: money or drugs," she said.

The burglary occurred in the early morning of Aug. 19, Towanda police said.

The Towanda police said they were not releasing further information at this time about the burglary, in order that their investigation not be jeopardized.

Gun stolen in Cherry Twp.

Someone stole a 9 mm Taurus PT 24/7 pistol, two fully loaded magazines, and a black nylon holster from a drawer under the front passenger seat of an unlocked vehicle in Cherry Township, police said.

The theft occurred sometime between July 7 and July 12 along Shinerville Road, state police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Laporte at (570) 946-4610.

Man reportedly holds machete in Rome during argument

Two men got into an argument recently inside the Dandy Mini Mart in Rome after one of them would not allow the other to pass in a posted passing zone, police said.

The man who would not allow the other to pass was reported to be holding a machete during the argument, police said.

The incident occurred at 10:54 a.m. on Aug. 15, state police at Towanda said.

The victim decided to not pursue criminal charges, police said.

Man charged with possession

The Sayre Borough Police department charged Timothy Charles Zimmer of Waverly with a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop conducted on July 30.

Man charged with assault

Officers responded to an alleged active physical domestic disturbance on Aug. 21, 2014 in Milltown, Sayre Borough. Upon arrival, Sayre Borough Police arrested Darren E. Ryan of Sayre and he was charged with simple assault and harassment. Ryan was arraigned on Aug. 22, by Judge Clark and released on $7,500 bail.

One vehicle accident

Pennsylvania State Police reported a one-vehicle accident on Aug. 8, on Centerville Road in Ridgebury Township. The alleged operator of the vehicle, Robert E. Leonard of Gillett fled the scene prior to police arrival. Leonard was later issued a violation for roadways lined for traffic.

Criminal mischief/criminal trespass citations issued

Pennsylvania State Police were called to a private farm in Ulster Township as a result of a disturbance. State Police reported that citations were issued to Bryan R. Benninger of Ulster for criminal trespass after he was caught on private property without permission. Also cited was Thomas A. Walters of Milan after he allegedly cracked the windshield and broke the antennae of Benninger's vehicle to cause approximately $300 of damage.

Theft reported

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft of a royalty check from a 67-year-old male victim from Athens. Anyone with information regarding the commission of this crime is asked to contact the State Police in Towanda at 570-265-2186 or 800-PA-TIPS. Anonymous calls are accepted with up to a $2000 cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.

Items stolen in Smithfield Township

Unknown parties stole diesel fuel, PVC type septic pipes and assorted wrenches and tools from a property in Smithfield Township, according to a report filed with the Pennsylvania State Police on Aug. 22. The investigation is ongoing and any information regarding the crime should be reported to the police.

Bicycles stolen

Two children's bicycles were reported stolen to the Pennsylvania State Police on Aug. 21, from a residence in Terry Township. The investigation is ongoing and any information regarding the crime should be reported to the police.

Man charged with harassment

On Aug. 22, Pennsylvania State Police were called to a residence in Sheshequin Township after a report of an alleged domestic disturbance. Walter K. Donovan was charged with harassment after getting into an argument in which he allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat and choked them.

DUI

Following a traffic stop on July 26, the Sayre Borough Police department charged David Arthur Bidlack of Sayre with a total of seven offenses including: three counts of DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle with invalid inspection and failure to use turn signals. Bidlack was stopped after officers observed a vehicle with a cracked windshield and 2012 inspection sticker make an turn on to Allison Street without the use of a signal.

Harassment

KULPMONT - Robert N. Searls, 18, of 914 N. Vine St., Shamokin, was cited by Officer Patrick McAndrew for harassment for allegedly slapping another male several times in the face at Kulpmont Community Park Sunday.

Police did not identify the victim.

Motorcyclist hurt

WALKER TOWNSHIP - State police at Frackville reported Mark Goff, 39, of Jim Thorpe, suffered serious injuries Sunday night when his motorcycle struck an embankment and flipped several times along Valley Road, approximately one-half mile west of Mountain Road in this Schuylkill County township.

Trooper Matthew Barrett said Goff was driving a black 2006 Honda CBR west at a high rate of speed at 6:12 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a slight left curve. The motorcycle then exited the right lane and traveled onto the shoulder of the road before hitting an embankment and flipping several times before coming to rest in the middle of the road.

Goff was flown by helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, where he was listed in critical condition Monday.

His cycle sustained extensive damage and was removed from the scene by family members.

Barrett said Goff will be cited for failing to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed, driving under suspension, careless driving and driving without proper inspection.

Scattering rubbish

MOUNT CARMEL - A 16-year-old Shamokin juvenile was cited by Patrolman William Adamski for scattering rubbish at 5 p.m. Aug. 1.

Police said the teen threw garbage from a vehicle on South Poplar Street.

Woman cited

MOUNT CARMEL - Chief of Police Todd Owens cited Monique L. Korte, 32, of 429 N. Market St., Mount Carmel, for scattering rubbish for depositing household items and clothing on the property of L&J Automotive in the 300 block of North Market Street Aug. 2.

Criminal mischief

MOUNT CARMEL - Jason L. Colahan, 35, and Ruth J. Schnee, 53, both of 1125 Market St., Ashland, were cited by Patrolman Matthew Dillman for criminal mischief for damaging the property of Natasha Spotts at 236 S. Oak St. Aug. 2.

Police said Colahan and Schnee damaged an air conditioner, bed sheet and picture frame, pushed over furniture and dumped baby formula in the residence.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Jason Dillow, 30, of 434 N. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Matthew Dillman for disorderly conduct involving an incident at 2:30 a.m. June 24 at Fourth and Poplar streets.

Police said Dillow is accused of striking a vehicle owned by Margaret Troutman before leaving the scene.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Lisa Ann Karlaza, 46, of 21 Back St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Justin Stelma for harassment for screaming at Aaron Fritz and Renee Gasper, of 302 W. Fig St., Mount Carmel, and calling them names.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Justin Stelma cited Amber N. Eisenhard, 21, of 214 W. Second St., Berwick, for harassment and disorderly conduct involving a disturbance at 3 p.m. Aug. 10 at Turkey Hill Minit Market.

Police reported Eisenhard struck Bryonna Dusendschine in the face while she was sitting in her vehicle.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Daniel A. Snyder, 28, of 507 W. Olive St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Matthew Dillman for disorderly conduct in connection with a disturbance at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at his residence, where he's accused of making unreasonable noise.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Jeffery B. Johnson, of 346 Beech St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Lt. Christopher Buhay for harassment relating to an incident at 7:15 p.m. Aug. 16.

Police said Johnson allegedly pushed Christina Johnson through the front screen door at their residence.

Cruelty to animals

MOUNT CARMEL - Robert P. Savidge, 48, of 27 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Jason Drumheller for cruelty to animals.

Police said Savidge failed to properly take care of a dog he had at his residence.

Public drunkenness

MOUNT CARMEL - Eric Carmen, 31, of Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Jason Drumheller for public drunkenness involving an Aug. 16 incident at Fifth and Oak streets.

Police said Carmen was found lying on the ground at 1 a.m.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Shawn M. Soliday, of 10 S. Vine St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Justin Stelma for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after he was observed intoxicated and urinating on the sidewalk in the first block of North Oak Street at 3:41 a.m. Saturday.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kyle Dunkelberger, 28, of 331 W. Market St., Trevorton, will be cited by Coal Township police for retail theft as a result of an incident at Walmart Supercenter at 4:37 p.m. Aug. 19.

Police said Dunkelberger placed a stereo amp kit and other smaller stereo items valued at $130.68 in a shopping bag and attempted to leave the store without paying for them.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Angela Bernas-Miller, 44, of 1607 W. Independence St., Coal Township, told police her 2002 Chevrolet was struck by another vehicle while parked near her residence between 7 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run accident is urged to call Coal Township police at 644-0333.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Bradley Earhart, 44, of 1727 Park Ave., Coal Township, will be cited by Coal Township police for scattering rubbish for depositing his garbage in a Dumpster in the 1000 block of West Arch Street rented by James Kelley.

Police said Earhart placed several bags of garbage in the Dumpster at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 19.

DUI checkpoint

MILTON - State police at Milton will conduct a DUI checkpoint this week or early September at an undisclosed location.

DANVILLE - State police at Milton have charged Latrina Kilpatrick, 28, of Danville, with aggravated assault and simple assault for punching Dr. Sarv Gupta, 84, of Danville, in the head multiple times at Danville State Hospital at 9:40 a.m. Aug. 19.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Chad Wiest and Tylor Zak, both of 553 N. Second St., Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for disorderly conduct and harassment involving a fight at 3:05 a.m. Monday at Sixth and Chestnut streets.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Brandon Lee Strausser, 32, of 1257 1/2 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for retail theft for attempting to steal cigars from Puff Tobacco store on Independence Street at 12:05 p.m. Aug. 11.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Shane M. Hart, 25, of 1001 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Mark Costa for disorderly conduct after entering the home of Corena Reid, of 109 W. Commerce St., and falling asleep on a chair while intoxicated at 5:25 a.m. Saturday.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Marilyn Black, 66, of 250 N. Market St., Elysburg, and Susan Bixler, 46, of 6 N. Coal St., Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery for harassment involving a disturbance at Bixler's residence at 12:49 p.m. Aug. 19.

Police reported Black punched Bixler in the face, while Bixler is accused of shoving and punching Black, causing injury.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Glen A. Shurock Jr., 21, of 815 E. Sunbury St., was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for disorderly conduct relating to a May 15 disturbance at his residence.

Police said Kristin Klinger, 23, of the same address, was the victim.

Aggravated indecent assault reported

State police at Towanda said they are investigating allegations of a sexual assault that occurred sometime between 4 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. July 5 on Lookout Road in Troy Township.

Police said the victim was a 5-year-old Canton girl.

Identity theft reported

State police at Towanda said they investigated a report of identity theft July 30 on South Side Road in LeRoy Township.

According to police, a 50-year-old Canton man said someone used his personal information to make several purchases from an unknown location.

Computer taken

A 55-year-old Sugar Run man told state police at Towanda that someone entered his residence and removed a laptop computer from his desk and fled sometime between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 7 on Ermisch Lane, Wilmot Township.

Police said the incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Michael J. Tereska.

Money taken

State police at Towanda said someone forced open the back door of a residence sometime between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 7 on Huber Drive in Canton Township and took a bag containing approximately $100 in change and fled.

Police said the victims are Jordan Stone, 23, and Cynthia Costas, 20, both of Canton Township.

Sign damaged

State police at Towanda said someone damaged a metal sign at a Talisman Energy well site sometime between 4 p.m. Aug. 4 and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 6 on Rowley Hill Road in Wells Township.

Laporte resident cited for harassment

Thomas Richard Wilson, 54, of Laporte was cited for the summary offense of harassment after he assaulted an 82-year-old man who had unknowingly entered his room at the Highland Care Center in Laporte, police said.

Wilson is accused of punching the victim on the head, state police at Laporte said.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Monday, police said.

Burglary occurs in Cherry Township

State police said that one or more individuals entered a vacant, foreclosed property at 8201 state Route 487 in Cherry Township and, after fleeing the scene, left behind open doors to the residence.

The incident occurred sometime on Aug. 12 or Aug. 13, police said.

Wyalusing man accused of violating Megan's Law

Benjamin Johnson, 34, of Wyalusing is accused of violating Megan's Law, police said.

Johnson, who is a Megan's Law Tier 1 sexual offender, failed to arrive at an approved registration site to verify his information during his yearly verification period of May 22-31, 2014, police said.

As a result, Johnson was charged with failure to comply with registration requirements for sexual offenders, which is a second-degree felony, police said.

Johnson turned himself in on Aug. 16, state police said.

He was arraigned in front of Athens Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw. Johnson was then released on non-monetary bail, police said.

Two charged in Wysox burglary

Rex John Peters and Joshua William Vanderpool, both of Wysox, forcibly entered a 53-year-old man's property on Sheshequin Road in Wysox Township, without the owner's permission, police said.

The incident occurred between 11 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on July 25, police said.

Peters, 24, and Vanderpool, 23, were apprehended as they tried to flee north on Sheshequin Road from the scene, state police said.

Peters and Vanderpool were both charged with burglary and criminal trespass, according to online court records.

Criminal mischief occurs in Wysox Twp.

State police said they are trying to determine who used a blunt object to strike Stevens Township resident Jorge Zepeda's pickup truck in Wysox Township.

The blow left a large dent in the vehicle, police said.

The incident occurred at 7:50 p.m. on Aug. 20 in the Bradford Towne Center's parking lot, outside of Advance Auto Parts, police said.

Woman charged with aggravated DWI

Kathy L. Blow, 51, of Athens, was arrested for misdemeanor DWI at 1:41 a.m. on Aug. 10, following a traffic stop on Broad Street, Waverly, N.Y. Blow was also charged with aggravated DWI, failing to keep right and refusal of a breath test. Blow was scheduled to appear in the Village of Waverly Justice Court at 4 p.m. on Aug. 21.

Child endangerment arrest made

April M. Greene, 34, of Waverly N.Y., was arrested for misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child at 1:31 a.m. on Aug. 20. Following investigation into a loud party at her apartment, it was found that she was allowing juveniles to consume alcoholic beverages at her apartment. Greene is scheduled to appear in the Village of Waverly Justice Court at 4 p.m. on Aug. 28.

Man arrested for DWI

Brian M. Hendershot, 25, of Barton, was arrested for misdemeanor DWI at 2:37 a.m., on Aug. 24, following a traffic stop on Pennsylvania Avenue in Waverly, N.Y. Hendershot was also charged with aggravated DWI and speeding in zone (Broad Street). Hendershot is scheduled to appear in the Village of Waverly Justice Court at 4 p.m. on Sept. 11.

Argument over phone turns violent

Sayre Police were dispatched to a residence on Draper Street in Sayre for a domestic disturbance on Aug. 8. Upon arrival, officers took statements regarding an alleged argument between the accused, Joshua L. Smith, 33, of Sayre, and occupants of the residence over the possible theft of a cell phone. During the argument, Smith shoved a person and caused mild bodily injury after which he fled the scene. Sayre Police charged Smith on Aug. 14, with misdemeanor charges of attempted physical assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

 

Theft from Ulster School

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an incident of theft by burglary at the Ulster Elementary School in Ulster Township occurring between Aug. 7 and Aug. 8. In the commission of the crime, unknown persons broke into the school and removed multiple items from within the school. Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is encouraged to contact the State Police.

 

Scrap metal theft in Ridgebury

Between the dates of July 6 and July 13, unknown persons gained access to a residence on Ridgebury Road in Ridgebury and stole multiple items of scrap materials. Also stolen was a yellow McCullock chain saw and circular international mowing machine, (five feet in length). Anyone with information regarding this crime should contact the Pennsylvania State Police.

 

Verbal argument turns indecent

Pennsylvania State Troopers responded to a report of indecent exposure on July 21, on Springfield Road in Smithfield Township. According to police, during a verbal argument along the edge of the roadway Donald Monchrie, 43, of East Smithfield, allegedly dropped his shorts, exposing his genitals and buttocks both in the direction of the roadway and the public. He was charged with indecent exposure, open lewdness and disorderly conduct.

 

Drug arrest reported

The Vice and Narcotics unit of the Pennsylvania State Police reported the arrest of Adam S. Johnson, 28, of Rome, after an investigation that concluded in January 2014. During the commission of the crime, officers allegedly observed Johnson deliver a controlled substance to an unnamed person. Johnson was charged on Aug. 25, with four felony charges of criminal conspiracy/possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, manufacturing, deliver, possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on Aug. 26, by Judge Clark and bail was set at $10,000.

 

Distracted driver crash

Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident in Litchfield Township on Aug. 13. According to police, Gretta J. Deutschle, 20, of Granville Summit, was traveling east on South Macafee Road when, distracted by a passenger, Deutschle failed to negotiate a left hand curve and rolled her vehicle approximately two to three times, causing disabling damage. The driver and a passenger were transported to Robert Packer Hospital by a passing vehicle. Deutschle was later issued a violation for Driving on roadways laned for traffic.

 

One-vehicle accident

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on Aug. 16, Mandy M. Foust, 34, of Canton, was traveling east on Milan Road in Ulster Township when her vehicle crossed over the fog line and hit loose gravel on the berm. The vehicle traveled into the westbound lane causing approximately 150 feet of yaw marks. Foust's vehicle then struck a tree before coming to final rest approximately 10 feet from the point of initial impact, facing westward. Foust was transported by ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. Foust was issued a violation for Driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Forgery

MOUNT CARMEL - Thomas H. Jones, 47, of Philadelphia, has been charged with forgery, obtaining a controlled substance by forgery or deception, two counts of criminal attempt to obtain a controlled substance, unlawful acts and false identification to police involving incidents that occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday at Community Pharmacy.

Police reported Jones forged a prescription in an attempt to obtain 120 Oxycodone tablets.

The charges were filed by Patrolman Matthew Dillman.

Jones was arraigned Sunday by on-call Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $250,000 cash bail.

He waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Jones.

Registration plates taken

State police at Towanda said that someone took registration plates off the rear of two vehicles sometime between Aug. 10-15 in the area of Taylor Avenue in Wyalusing.

State police at Towanda said someone broke into a residence in the 6000 block of State Route 328 sometime between approximately noon and 3 p.m. Aug. 17 in Wells Township, and stole a wallet and cell phone belonging to a 75-year-old man.

Lawnmower taken

State police at Towanda said someone removed a push lawnmower and green weed whacker Aug. 8 from the yard of a residence on the Berwick Turnpike in Burlington.

Fraud reported

State police at Towanda said a 62-year-old Rome man was the victim of access device fraud sometime between 7 a.m. July 20 and 3 p.m. July 23 on Cragle Road in Orwell Township.

Police said someone tried to open a credit card account with the man's personal information, but was denied, and also tried to add an authorized user to an existing credit account owned by the victim, but was also denied.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.

Scrap metal theft in Ridgebury

Between the dates of July 6 and July 13, unknown persons gained access to a residence on Ridgebury Road in Ridgebury and stole multiple items of scrap materials. Also stolen was a yellow McCullock chain saw and circular international mowing machine, (five feet in length). Anyone with information regarding this crime should contact the Pennsylvania State Police.

Drug arrest reported

The Vice and Narcotics unit of the Pennsylvania State Police reported the arrest of Adam S. Johnson, 28, of Rome, after an investigation that concluded in January 2014. During the commission of the crime, officers allegedly observed Johnson deliver a controlled substance to an unnamed person. Johnson was charged on Aug. 25, with four felony charges of criminal conspiracy/possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, manufacturing, deliver, possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on Aug. 26, by Judge Clark and bail was set at $10,000.

Distracted driver crash

Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident in Litchfield Township on Aug. 13. According to police, Gretta J. Deutschle, 20, of Granville Summit, was traveling east on South Macafee Road when, distracted by a passenger, Deutschle failed to negotiate a left hand curve and rolled her vehicle approximately two to three times, causing disabling damage. The driver and a passenger were transported to Robert Packer Hospital by a passing vehicle. Deutschle was later issued a violation for Driving on roadways laned for traffic.

One-vehicle accident

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on Aug. 16, Mandy M. Foust, 34, of Canton, was traveling east on Milan Road in Ulster Township when her vehicle crossed over the fog line and hit loose gravel on the berm. The vehicle traveled into the westbound lane causing approximately 150 feet of yaw marks. Foust's vehicle then struck a tree before coming to final rest approximately 10 feet from the point of initial impact, facing westward. Foust was transported by ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. Foust was issued a violation for Driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Indecent exposure

State police at Towanda said they are investigating an indecent exposure incident that allegedly occurred in April in Burlington Township.

Police said a man, who is known to the female juvenile victim, is accused in the incident.

Fugitive from justice

State police at Towanda said Michael T. Irish, 45, of Van Etten, N.Y. was taken into custody on an arrest warrant from the New York State Police at 3 p.m. Aug. 27.

Police said he was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and is being held in the Bradford County Correctional Facility, awaiting extradition.

Unauthorized use of motor vehicle

State police at Towanda said someone used a vehicle without permission and damaged the front end area of the vehicle sometime between Aug. 6-7 on Austinville Road in Troy Township.

Police said the victim was a 19-year-old man. Police have developed a suspect, who is being investigated.

Men cited

State police at Towanda said Charles Miller, 46, and James Labar, 24, both of Columbia Cross Roads, were cited with harassment and public drunkenness following an incident that occurred at 11:15 p.m. Aug. 14 on North Calaman Lane in Kerry View Trailer Park in Columbia Township.

Police said they got into a fight, and were under the influence of alcohol.

Rubbish scattered

State police at Towanda said someone deposited a bag of rubbish at 4 p.m. July 30 on Laurel Lane in South Creek Township.

Air compressor stolen

State police at Towanda said someone took a red 27-gallon Coleman Power Mate air compressor sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 15 from a field on State Route 514 in Franklin Township.

Woman to be charged for retail theft

State police at Mansfield said Samantha Winiavski, 20, of Troy, left Wal-Mart at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 14 in Richmond Township, Tioga County, Pa. without paying for merchandise.

Police said she will be charged for retail theft at District Court 04-3-03.

Man charged for DUI

State police at Towanda said Daniel Edward Doty, 31, of Canton, was arrested for DUI at 2:18 a.m. Aug. 19 on Route 14 in Troy Township.

Police said charges were filed in District Court 42-3-01.

Man charged with indecent exposure

Michael Maslov, 66, of LeRaysville, faces a preliminary hearing at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 30 on a charge of indecent exposure for an incident that took place at approximately 11 a.m. Aug. 7 on Cheese House Road in Pike Township, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton of Wysox.

Wheaton said Maslov was sent a summons.

Man waives hearing

Adam Scott Johnson, 27, of Rome waived his preliminary hearing this week before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark of Towanda on charges of criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, according to the district court office.

Court papers note that the charges were for a May 23 incident at the Dandy Mini Mart parking lot along routes 6 and 187 in Wysox Township.

An affidavit notes that a state police trooper was contacted by a state police confidential informant about receiving a text message at 7:05 a.m. May 22 from Johnson, asking if they wanted any heroin. Contact was made again with Johnson, and the deal was set to take place at the location.

Johnson's formal arraignment will take place Sept. 11 in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas.

Man faces hearing on indecent exposure

Donald Walter Mochrie, 43, of East Smithfield, faces a preliminary hearing at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on charges of indecent exposure and criminal mischief for an incident that took place July 21 at his residence, according to court papers.

The victim in the incident told his wife that there was an incident with Mochrie that day, when he drove by Mochrie's residence at around 2 p.m. The papers note that Mochrie stood up on his lawn tractor and exposed himself. In addition, he threw rocks at the victim's vehicle, causing approximately $521 in damage in dents and scratches to the fender and door, police said.

Wilcox said he was sent a summons by certified mail.

Man injured

State police at Towanda said Michael J. Henderson, 32, of Erin, N.Y. had a minor injury in a one-vehicle crash at 10:57 a.m. Aug. 24 on the Burlington Turnpike in Burlington Township.

Police said he was driving a Mack 999 north on the road, when for unknown reasons, he drove into the east roadside ditch for approximately 150 feet, causing his vehicle to overturn onto its passenger side. Police said the vehicle traveled across the roadway, struck a tree in the west roadside berm with its front passenger side fender, and skidded on its passenger side for about 25 feet, coming to final rest facing west and blocking the roadway. According to police, he suffered minor cuts and bruising to his face and was transported to Memorial Hospital. The Troy Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Police said Henderson was charged for a violation of "driving on roadways."

No injuries

State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 9:14 a.m. Aug. 5 on Route 320 in Wells Township.

Police said drivers involved in the crash were Anita R. Lamb, 37, of Elmira, N.Y. and Loree L. Lisk, 58, of Mansfield.

A passenger in Lisk's vehicle also wasn't injured.

According to police, Lamb was charged with a violation of "vehicle turning left."

No other information was available.

DUI crash

State police at Towanda said Gregory Seip, 21, of Millerton was not injured in a DUI crash that occurred at 7:27 p.m. July 25 on Fallbrook Road at the intersection with Farmers Valley Road in Troy Township.

Police said charges were filed on Seip through District Court 42-3-01.

According to police, Seip lost control of his 1998 GMC Jimmy, and rolled the vehicle onto the driver's side, while making a right turn onto Fallbrook Road from Farmers Valley Road. The vehicle had minor driver's side damage as a result. During the investigation, Seip showed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, police said. He was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda for a legal blood draw.

According to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy, Seip is also charged with purchase, consumption, possession or transportation of liquor or malt or brewed beverages; careless driving; a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed;" and minor prohibited from operating with any alcohol in system, in addition to DUI. He was 20 years old at the time of the crash.

Police said his blood-alcohol content was .140 percent.

Wilcox said Seip faces a preliminary hearing at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 17. He was sent a summons.

Vandalism occurs in Monroe Twp.

Someone broke the front windshield and rear window of a 31-year-old woman's car when it was parked in her driveway in Monroe Township, police said.

The vandalism occurred at 3 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Weston Road, state police said.

State police said they are trying to determine who stole a black and white iPhone 5c from 1576 Brocktown Rd. in Monroe Township.

Towanda Twp. crash leaves one with minor injury

One person suffered a minor injury in a recent motor vehicle accident on U.S. Route 220 in Towanda Township, police said.

The accident occurred as Frederick Maynard of Towanda, who was traveling north on Route 220, was attempting to make a left-hand turn into his driveway, police said.

Maynard failed to yield to oncoming traffic, and his vehicle struck the front end of a Ford F250, which was operated by 24-year-old Keith W. Kitchen III of Dushore, police said.

One person, who was a passenger in Kitchen's vehicle, suffered a minor injury, police said.

No one else was injured in the accident, which occurred at 5:09 p.m. Monday, state police at Towanda said.

Maynard, 74, was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic, police said.

MOUNT CARMEL - Three defendants pleaded guilty to charges Wednesday and were each ordered to pay $500 fines plus costs by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

- Wallace E. Seltzer Jr., 29, and Jodi L. Seltzer, 44, both of 33 Hummer Road, Danville, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia filed against both defendants by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington was withdrawn.

The Seltzers were charged after police found a glass smoking pipe in their residence during a domestic argument July 6.

- Jake Donte Stellar, 24, of 245 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia relating to an Aug. 7 incident at his home.

The charge was filed by Mount Carmel Cpl. David Donkochik.

TREVORTON - Tiffany Marie Bridi, 34, and Jessie O. Marshall, 47, both of Trevorton, will be cited by state police at Stonington for harassment for engaging in a physical altercation at 2:24 a.m. Friday at 722 W. Market St.

Scrap metal theft

MAYBERRY TOWNSHIP - Jason Jeremiah, 33, of Catawissa, has been charged by state police at Stonington with theft, receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling at night and driving with a suspended license involving the April 19 theft of scrap metal owned by John Bulko, of High Road, Catawissa.

Theft investigation

SUNBURY - State police at Stonington are investigating the theft of a wallet at Valero Gas Station on North Fourth Street at 8;25 a.m. Monday.

Edward L. Mordan Jr., 40, of 230 Pontius Ave., Sunbury, said he left the wallet at the gas station after pumping fuel. Mordan said whoever took the wallet used a credit/debit card to make several purchases.

Escapes injury

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - Roxann J. Seroski, 55, of Coal Township, escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident at 4:45 p.m. Aug. 23 along Route 125 in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Stonington reported Seroski was driving a 2000 GMC Sierra south when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a downhill, right curve in the road. The Sierra traveled across the northbound lane and struck guard rail before coming to rest on the east shoulder of the road.

The Sierra sustained left front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Seroski, who was wearing a seat belt, was cited for failing to maintain her vehicle on the road.

DUI

STRONG - Dylan Spencer Blum, 21, of 421 N. Shamokin St., Apt. 2-4, Shamokin, has been charged with driving under the influence of heroin, recklessly endangering another person, careless driving, failing to drive in a single lane and a seat belt violation relating to a traffic stop at 5 p.m. Thursday on Route 61 near DaVita Dialysis.

Mount Carmel Patrolmen Kelly Campbell and David Stamets Jr. filed the charges at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Stamets reported Blum also will be charged by Kulpmont police with similar offenses involving a traffic stop along Route 61 (Chestnut Street) near China King on Wednesday.

Crash on 'strip'

MONROE TOWNSHIP - A local woman suffered a minor injury in a crash on Routes 11/15 near Dairy Queen around 4:30 p.m. Friday.

State police said Sandra M. Ditchey, 47, of Mount Carmel, was traveling north when she slowed for stopped traffic. Her vehicle was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by Valerie D. Witmer, 41, of Tower City.

A passenger in Ditchey's vehicle, Mary A. Wojcik, 70, of Kulpmont, suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene. Ditchey, Witmer and two passengers in Witmer's vehicle, a 12-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy, were all uninjured.

Witmer was cited with following too closely, police said.

- Weapon Law Offenses: At 10:13 p.m., Aug. 23, police responded to headquarters in reference to an attempted assault that occurred in the 500 block of Brown Avenue. Known offender fired weapon at victim and was arrested. No injuries.
