Rape reported
State police at Towanda said a 30-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by someone known to her between 1992-1997 in Columbia Cross Roads.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
Charges filed
State police at Towanda said charges were filed District Court 42-3-01 in a harassment by communication incident that took place at 11 p.m. March 23 on Criss Road in Wells Township.
According to police, the accused, Fred Felko, 42, of Locke, N.Y., called a 43-year-old woman and told her he was going to stab her.
Identity theft reported
State police at Towanda said someone used a 17-year-old girl's personal information to fraudulently file taxes in her name sometime between March 4-5 on Route 514 in Granville Township.
Indecent assault reported
State police at Towanda said they are investigating an indecent assault that was reported to have taken place Feb. 26 in Canton Township involving a juvenile female victim.
Police said the suspect is a white Hispanic male.
Harassment reported
State police at Towanda said Amanda Jo Smith, 24, no address given, was charged with harassment for an incident that took place April 6 on Coryland Road in Wells Township.
According to police, she repeatedly called a 41-year-old man in a threatening manner, causing him to be concerned for his welfare.
Rape investigated
State police at Towanda said a 15-year-old female alleged that she was sexually assaulted by someone known to her from September to November 2012 in Columbia Cross Roads.
Police said an investigation is ongoing.
Criminal mischief reported
State police at Towanda said someone cut a padlock and stole items sometime between March 27 and April 1 at a location on Fairbanks Road in Columbia Township.
The victim is a Columbia Cross Roads man, police said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact state police at Towanda.
Crash reported
State police at Towanda said a driver was under the influence of alcohol in a March 31 crash on Franklindale Road in Burlington Township.
Police did not identify the driver, only the vehicle, which they said was a 2014 Ford F-150XLT.
According to police, the vehicle was traveling south and the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a right curve and traveled onto the southbound berm. The vehicle struck a tree and overturned onto its passenger side. Police said the vehicle was drivable, once righted onto its wheels, but was towed, due to the driver being under the influence of alcohol.
Man charged with public drunkenness
A Sayre man was recently arrested by Sayre Borough police on a charge of public drunkenness.
According to information from state police at Towanda, Michael Frank Passero, 51, was also charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Police said Passero was arrested after police found him passed out at about 3:15 a.m. April 12 under a vehicle parked at a North Lehigh Avenue residence. Police found two baggies containing marijuana in Passero's possession, police said.
Passero was also found to have three non-extraditable warrants out of New Mexico, police said.
Passero was arraigned April 12 by Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Passero's preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22.
Items stolen from car
A Waverly woman was recently arrested by Sayre Borough police on a charge of theft from a motor vehicle.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Katie L. Keene, 26, was also charged with public drunkenness.
Police said Keene removed money and a social security card from a vehicle parked at the gas pumps at the Dandy Mini Mart on Spring Street at about 2:05 a.m. April 12.
Keene was arraigned April 12 by Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Keene's preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22.
Retail theft charge
A LeRaysville woman was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of retail theft.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Alicia Marie Isbell, 31, removed $242.56 worth of merchandise April 11 from the Walmart store on Elmira Street. Isbell removed a total of 49 items, police said.
Isbell was arraigned April 14 and released from the Bradford County Jail on non-monetary bail. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22.
Nichols man charged with weapon possession
A Nichols, N.Y. man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
According to the sheriff's office, Andrew J. Rogers, 21, was arrested April 11 after being found in possession of a handgun stolen from a Sayre location.
Rogers was arraigned in Nichols Town Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond. Rogers is scheduled to reappear April 17 in court.
Towanda woman charged with making false report
Ashley Maria Harrigan, 28, of Towanda is accused of calling 911 to report that her mother was being raped, when in fact no such rape took place, police said.
Police who arrived on scene said that Harrigan did not provide them with a reason why she reported the rape, but said that she told them that she thought she was going crazy.
Harrigan told police that she had been using crystal meth recently, and that it was messing with her mind, according to the Towanda police.
Police said they discussed with Harrigan the idea of her signing herself in to Robert Packer Hospital, but she refused to do it.
Police said they began to place Harrigan in custody, but Harrigan tried to burn Police Officer Brian Wibirt with a lit cigarette.
After a brief struggle, Harrigan was placed in custody, police said.
The incident occurred on Saturday, police said.
Harrigan was charged with making a false report about an offense to law enforcement authorities, knowing that that offense did not occur, police said.
Harrigan was also charged with resisting arrest, police said.
Harrigan was arraigned on Saturday by Wysox Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.
Harrigan was then sent on Saturday to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Harrigan must attend a preliminary hearing in Towanda District Court on April 23.
DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
George Edward Allen Jr., 36, of Towanda, by Athens Borough police, on March 22, on Riverside Drive in Athens. Allen was also charged with following too closely and careless driving. A blood alcohol test revealed that Allen's blood alcohol content was .17 percent on the day of his arrest. Allen has been sent a summons to appear May 6 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
Kristopher Adam Reeves, 29, of Towanda, by the state police, on March 15, on Woodside Road in Towanda Township. The DUI charge stems from a motor vehicle accident. Reeves was also cited for failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, careless driving, and failure to immediately notify police of the accident. A test showed that Reeves' blood alcohol content was .194 percent on the day of his arrest.
Austin James Depew, 19, of Athens, by the state police, on March 16, on Ulster Road in Ulster Township. The DUI charge stems from a one-vehicle accident. Depew was also cited for driving with an expired registration, failure to stay in his lane, and careless driving. A test showed that Depew's blood alcohol content was .279 percent on the day of his arrest.
