Towanda teen facing corruption of minors charge
Steven Potter, 19, of Towanda faces one count of corruption of minors as a result of an investigation into allegations that he engaged in a sex act with a 15-year-old girl, police said.
The incident occurred in June 2013, state police at Towanda said.
Man charged with simple assault
A Columbia Cross Roads man was recently charged with simple assault and harassment by state police at Towanda.
According to state police, James Lynn Carr, 23, reportedly struck a female victim multiple times between April 6 and April 8 at a residence on Berwick Turnpike in Ridgebury Township.
Carr was also charged with contacting the victim April 12 while a protection from abuse order was in place, police said.
Accident occurs in Towanda Township
No one was injured in a motor vehicle accident in Towanda Township, police said.
The accident occurred when Brenda K. Pitts of Towanda lost control of her vehicle while making a left turn from Old Plank Road onto Bridge Street, police said. Pitts' vehicle veered off of Bridge Street and struck two trees, state police at Towanda said.
Pitts, 28, and her two passengers - 21-year-old David L. Brown of Towanda and an 11-year-old girl - were uninjured, police said.
State police said they did not know why Pitts lost control of her vehicle.
The accident occurred at 7:49 p.m. on March 31, police said.
Police investigate MVA
State police at Towanda recently investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident in Ridgebury Township.
According to state police, at about 1:48 a.m. April 13, a 1998 Nissan Sentra operated by Jonathan J. Robbins, 19, of Milan, was traveling east on Ridgebury Road when Robbins lost control of the vehicle on a left curve. The vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment and the back half of the vehicle lifted off the ground, police said. The roof of the vehicle then struck a large tree, according to police.
The Ridgebury division of Tri-Township Ambulance transported Robbins to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for treatment of moderate injuries, police said. Robbins wore a seatbelt, police said.
Police cited Robbins for careless driving, police said. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Sutty's Towing.
Woman cited for harassment
State police at Towanda recently cited a Towanda woman with harassment following an incident in Sheshequin Township.
According to state police, at about 2:15 a.m. April 14, Janelle Mitros, 29, pushed an adult male victim several times at a Mitros Lane residence.
Drug paraphernalia charge
A Waverly woman was recently charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Athens Township police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Chelsea M. Cole, 29, was found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle, spoon and package of small plastic baggies during investigation into a March 4 motor vehicle accident on Wilawana Road.
Cole's preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 13.
DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Derek Richard Hunsinger, 23, of Sayre, by Athens Borough police, on April 13, on Satterlee Street in Athens. Hunsinger has also been charged with careless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to drive on the right side of the roadway, violation of required position and method of turning, failure to use turn signal, speeding, operating a vehicle without a valid inspection and failure to notify of change of address. A blood test revealed that Hunsinger's blood alcohol content was .15 percent on the day of his arrest. Hunsinger has been sent a summons to appear May 20 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
Caleb Mark Roy, 24, of Towanda, by Athens Borough police, on April 5, on East Cooper Street in Athens. Roy has also been charged with violation of required position and method of turning. A blood test revealed that Roy's blood alcohol content was .16 percent on the day of his arrest. Roy has been sent a summons to appear May 20 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
David Anthony Padilla Jr., 33, of Athens, by Athens Borough police, on March 16, at West Pine Street and the Route 220 northbound offramp in Athens. Padilla was also charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to drive on the right side of the roadway, failure to use turn signal and careless driving. A blood test determined that Padilla's blood alcohol content was .07 percent on the day of his arrest. Padilla has been sent a summons to appear May 20 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
David E. Bashore, 29, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on March 4, on Riverside Drive in Sayre. Bashore was also charged with driving with a suspended license. A blood test revealed that Bashore had methamphetamine and amphetamine present in his blood and a blood alcohol content of .04 percent on the day of his arrest. Bashore has been sent a summons to appear May 13 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
