Sugar Run man charged with assault

Joseph James Buttito, 52, of Sugar Run has been charged by state police with simple assault and harassment relating to an April 14 incident.

Buttito is accused of being involved in a physical altercation with two juveniles and causing injuries.

He has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1 p.m. on May 27 for a preliminary hearing.

Woman steals money from ATM customer

Johnnie Sue Coats, 31, of Wyalusing has been charged by state police with access device fraud relating to a March 29 incident at PS Bank in Wyalusing.

According to police, Coats withdrew $300 from a victim's account after she arrived at the bank's ATM machine and noticed a transaction from a previous customer had not been cancelled. The victim said Coats was able to do this because his pin number was "obvious."

Coats attempted to withdraw more money from the account, but was unable due to an ATM limit of $500 per day, police said.

PS Bank employees used security camera footage to identify Coats as the perpetrator, police said.

Coats has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1 p.m. on May 20 for a preliminary hearing.

Underage drinking reported

State police at Towanda said several people will be charged for underage consumption of alcohol at a party at 8:30 p.m. April 26 on Wheelerville Road in Canton Township.

Police said those who will be charged include a 19-year-old Canton male, a 16-year-old Leroy male, three 18-year-old Canton males, an 18-year-old Gillett female, a 20-year-old Columbia Cross Roads male, a 17-year-old Canton female, and a 19-year-old Towanda male.

Man charged with indecent exposure

State police at Towanda said Jeffrey Jackson, 27, of Sayre, was charged with felony corruption of minors, indecent exposure, open lewdness, and institutional vandalism following an indecent exposure incident that took place between 11 a.m. and noon April 25 at the Bradford County Correctional Facility in West Burlington Township.

Police said he remains at the jail in lieu of $75,000 bail. In addition, charges of corruption of minors were filed against Carly Walker Bert, 22, of Sayre, for allowing her 2-year-old daughter to be present during the incident.
