Towanda man charged with assault
Justin Larry Brown, 30, of Towanda has been charged with simple assault and harassment, police said.
The charges stem from a May 17 incident in which he repeatedly struck a woman in an apartment on Bridge Street in Towanda Borough, police said.
The victim told police that she was struck on her shoulders, back, sides, hands, face and head, Towanda police said.
The victim was treated at Memorial Hospital for her injuries, police said. She had bruising, swelling and small cuts on the left side of her face, police said.
Brown, who lives on Second Street, was arraigned by Troy Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox on May 17.
Brown was then incarcerated in the Bradford County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Brown's preliminary hearing, which was originally scheduled for May 21 in Towanda District Court, has been postponed to Aug. 20.
Athens man charged with violating Megan's Law
Skylar James Smith, 22, of Athens has been charged with a violation of Megan's Law, police said.
Smith was required to update his sex offender registration within three business days after obtaining a new job this month in Waverly, N.Y., state police said. However, he failed to do so, state police at Towanda said.
Towanda man charged with possession of drug paraphernalia
Donald Jeffrey Roof, 52, of Towanda has been charged with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and theft by unlawful taking or disposition, police said.
The charges stem from a May 17 incident in which Roof stole a bicycle from a residence on Dayton Road in Towanda Township, and was in possession of two hypodermic needles, state police said.
Roof, who lives on Second Street, has been sent a summons to appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on June 25.
Woman charged in harassment
State police at Towanda said charges were filed against Susan Graham, 55, of Sugar Run, in District Court 42-3-01 for a harassment incident that took place at 8:15 p.m. May 26 on South Calaman Lane in Columbia Township.
Police said Graham threatened a 28-year-old Columbia Cross Roads female with bodily harm, and the woman then contacted state police about the incident.
Cup thrown
State police at Towanda are investigating an incident that took place at 3:30 p.m. May 8 in Canton Township in which someone threw a Styrofoam cup at a vehicle.
Police said a 51-year-old Canton man was traveling north on Route 14 in Canton Township as someone in a dark color truck traveling south approached his vehicle. Police said the driver in the suspect vehicle threw a Styrofoam cup at the Canton man's vehicle, causing the front windshield to crack.
Signs taken
State police at Towanda said someone took five vinyl construction signs reading "Work Area Ahead" and five aluminum stands sometime between 6 p.m. May 23 and 7:30 a.m. May 27 on Sugar Hill Road in Wilmot Township.
The signs belong to Linde Construction, police said.
DUI
The following person was recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Brooke Marie Silvers, 22, of Ulster, by the state police, on May 4, on state Route 2024 in Towanda Township. A blood test revealed that Silvers' blood alcohol content was .175 percent on the day of her arrest.
