Waverly police make arrests
Waverly police recently arrested the following people, according to the Waverly Police Department:
Jason L. Robbins, 34, of Waverly, on June 10, for driving while intoxicated, following investigation into a report of an intoxicated driver riding a motorcycle in the area of Ball Street. Robbins is scheduled to appear June 26 in Waverly Village Court.
Brian L. Charlton, 67, of Lockwood, N.Y., on May 28, for aggravated driving while intoxicated and traffic violations. Police said Charlton was arrested following investigation into a report of an intoxicated driver in the area of North Chemung Street. Charlton is scheduled to appear June 12 in Waverly Village Court.
Gabriel S. Spencer, 39, of Granville Summit, on May 26, for criminal possession of a weapon. Police said Spencer is accused of illegally possessing metal knuckles. Spencer is scheduled to appear June 12 in Waverly Village Court.
Timothy L. Beavers, 28, of Waverly, on June 1, for endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful dealing with a child. Police said Beavers is accused of purchasing and providing alcohol to four underage youths. Beavers is scheduled to appear June 12 in Waverly Village Court.
Andrew P. Stanton, 28, of Waverly, on May 31, for driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. Police said Stanton is accused of leaving the scene of an accident at Chemung Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Police located Stanton in his driveway at his Barton residence and he was found to have been involved in another motor vehicle accident the previous evening, police said.
Unlicensed operator
Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies recently arrested a Waverly man on a charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
According to information from the sheriff's office, Joe J. Vanatta, 54, was also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and having an inadequate brake lamp.
Police said the charges resulted from a vehicle stop at about 9:50 a.m. June 11 on Ridge Road in Barton. Vanatta is scheduled to appear June 24 in Barton Town Court.
Woman charged with leaving accident scene
A Waverly woman was recently charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving personal injury by Sayre Borough police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Ashley Dawn Kirk, 19, was also charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving property damage, improperly overtaking a vehicle on the left, speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Kirk was the operator of a 2005 Dodge Durango that fled the scene of a May 22 accident at Cayuta and Harris streets. A passenger in the Durango later went to Memorial Hospital in Towanda to seek treatment for back, leg and hip pain, police said.
A search of the vehicle turned up a metal spoon with burnt residue, two hypodermic needles, a hypodermic needle cap and a ripped clear plastic bag, police said.
Kirk's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 22.
Drug possession charge
An Athens woman was recently charged with possession of a controlled substance by Athens Borough police.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Nicole M. Vandyke, 23, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Vandyke was found to be in possession of bath salts and hypodermic needles while law enforcement officials served outstanding warrants on her June 11 at her Spruce Street residence.
Vandyke was arraigned June 11 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. Vandyke's preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17.
Grass damage reported
State police at Towanda are investigating damaged grass at a Litchfield Township property.
According to state police, sometime on June 7, an unknown actor or actors damaged the grass on a Cotton Hollow Road property.
