Firearm purchase attempted
State police at Towanda said they are continuing to investigate an incident that occurred at 8:16 a.m. Feb. 15 in Wysox Township in which an individual tried to purchase a firearm at a gun store when he/she was prohibited from doing so, based on prohibitions contained in the Uniform Firearms Act.
During the attempted purchase, the individual allegedly falsified an application form, stating that he/she was not prohibited from making a firearms purchase by law, police said. Police did not identify the person.
Woman cited for harassment
State police at Towanda said Rose Bump, 45, of Towanda Township was cited for harassment for an incident that took place at 3:10 p.m. June 28 on Chapel Street in Towanda Township, in which she threw an ashtray at Charlotte Lane, 79, of Towanda Township, striking her in the head.
No injuries reported
State police at Towanda said no one was injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 9:50 a.m. June 26 on State Route 3018 in Towanda Township.
Drivers involved in the accident were Lillian M. Dymond, 64, of Towanda, and Frank J. Bertrand, 66, of Towanda, police said. Two juvenile passengers in Dymond's vehicle were not injured, according to police.
Police said Bertrand was traveling west in the westbound lane and Dymond was turning from a driveway on the westbound berm. As Bertrand traveled toward the driveway, Dymond made a left turn to attempt to travel east. Police said Bertrand traveled over the center lines to avoid striking the other vehicle, with negative results as the two vehicles collided. Police said Dymond's vehicle came to final rest facing south in the driveway, and Bertrand's vehicle came to final rest facing west on the westbound berm of the road.
Police said Dymond was charged with a violation of "vehicles entering or crossing."
Firearm sale denied
State police at Towanda said a 38-year-old man, who is a felon not to possess a firearm, tried to purchase a gun from Fulmer's Sporting Goods in March in Wysox Township.
Police said the sale was denied as a result of the Pennsylvania Instant Check System. Police did not identify the man.
Man arrested
State police at Towanda said James A. Yates, 38, of Towanda, was arrested for disorderly conduct after he smashed his windshield in his vehicle, causing alarm to nearby residents, at approximately 10:45 p.m. June 28 at Hart's Trailer Court in Rome.
Harassment reported
State police at Towanda said a 39-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, no address listed, were both cited with one summary count of harassment following an argument at 11:52 a.m. June 26 on State Route 706 near the Stevensville Post Office in Stevens Township.
Trooper Sadowski declined to identify the people who were cited.
According to police, a verbal argument ensued between the two people, who were traveling in a vehicle, and at some point, it became physical in nature, with the man stopping the vehicle. The woman was able to exit the vehicle.
Police investigate thefts
State police at Towanda said they are investigating some thefts from motor vehicles that occurred sometime between 8:30 a.m. May 17 and 6 a.m. May 18 in the area of State Route 14 and Glen Street in South Creek Township.
Police said someone entered the unlocked vehicles and searched the areas of the console and glove boxes, taking money found, and then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
According to police, the victims were a 38-year-old Gillett woman, a 42-year-old Gillett woman, a 27-year-old Gillett man, and a 42-year-old Columbia Cross Roads woman.
Weathervanes taken
State police at Mansfield said someone stole three weathervanes from a roof at an abandoned residence sometime between 2 p.m. June 13 and 10 a.m. June 15 on Spencer Road in Union Township, Tioga County, Pa.
Police said the victim was Michael Dewayne Van Horn, 52, of Canton, and the weathervanes were valued at about $300. The person or people who took the weathervanes then fled in an unknown direction, police said.
Harassment investigated
State police at Towanda said they are investigating an incident of harassment that occurred sometime between 12:01 a.m. April 1 and 12:50 a.m. April 30 on LeRaysville Road in Warren Township in which a 7-year-old boy said that someone known to him grabbed his buttocks.
