Sayre man arrested
Athens Township police recently arrested a Sayre man on a charge of criminal attempt to commit delivery of a controlled substance.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, John Michael Schwartzbauer, 29, was also charged with criminal conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and criminal conspiracy to commit delivery of a controlled substance.
Police said that at about 3:45 a.m. May 6, Schwartzbauer participated in a narcotics transaction where he obtained $300 from a male at the Comfort Inn on Elmira Street in order to travel to Elmira, N.Y. and purchase cocaine. Police said that Schwartzbauer provided a man in Elmira with money to purchase cocaine, but never received the drug and returned to the hotel.
The male at the Comfort Inn then became upset, punched Schwartzbauer in the side of the face and chased him through the interior of the hotel, police said.
Schwartzbauer was arraigned June 30 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. Schwartzbauer's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 8.
Boat stolen
State police at Towanda are investigating the theft of a boat from an Ulster Township location.
According to state police, at about 1:30 p.m. June 28, an unknown actor or actors removed a camouflage-colored 11-foot Sears boat from a location on Route 220 near the Susquehanna River shore. The boat bears a Pennsylvania registration of 3607TT, police said.

Police investigate Route 220 accident
State police at Towanda recently investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident in Ulster Township.
According to information from state police, at about 3:45 p.m. June 30, a northbound 2007 Chevrolet Yukon operated by Seth A. Urey, 25, of Towanda, rear-ended a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that had come to a stop in the roadway south of James Street.
Urey was uninjured, police said. The Ulster division of Tri-Township Ambulance transported the driver of the Monte Carlo, 48-year-old Allen Manley of Sayre, to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
Police cited Urey for following too closely, police said.
Man arrested for drug paraphernalia
State police at Towanda recently charged a man with possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to state police, Dakotah Anthony, 26, was found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle and a spoon with white residue suspected to be heroin June 28 at a Smithfield Township property.
Police investigate one-car MVA
State police at Towanda recently investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident on Route 187 in Windham Township.
According to information from state police, at about 5:04 p.m. July 1, a northbound 1990 Honda Accord operated by Nicholas Cron, 20, of Nichols, N.Y., traveled off the roadway's east shoulder after Cron lost control of the vehicle.
Police said the Accord struck a road sign just south of Route 187's intersection with LeRaysville Road and traveled over a small embankment through a swampy area, then struck an embankment on the opposite side of a small creek with its front end. The vehicle came to final rest in the creek and buried in mud, police said.
Cron, who was not injured, was cited for failure to stay in a single lane, police said. The vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Furman and Jones Towing, police said.
The Windham Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the scene.
DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Arthur Everly Jr., 34, of Wysox, by Sayre Borough police, on April 5, on Spring Street in Sayre. Everly has also been charged with failing to yield the right of way when entering or crossing a roadway. Everly refused to submit to a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content. Everly has been sent a summons to appear Aug. 5 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
Michael Wayne Tappan, 47, of Nichols, N.Y., by Sayre Borough police, on June 15, on North Lehigh Avenue in Sayre. Tappan has also been charged with failure to keep right and speeding. A blood test revealed that Tappan's blood alcohol content was .17 percent on the day of his arrest. Tappan has been sent a summons to appear Aug. 5 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
Franklin Allen Mott, 55, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on March 22, on Fulton Street in South Waverly. A blood test revealed that Mott's blood alcohol content was .19 percent on the day of his arrest. Mott has been sent a summons to appear Aug. 5 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
Daniel Steven Bellows, 27, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on March 17, on Spring Street in Sayre. Bellows has also been charged with failure to keep right and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. A blood test revealed that Bellows' blood alcohol content was .159 percent and that there was marijuana present in his system on the day of his arrest. Bellows has been sent a summons to appear July 15 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
Robert W. Walter III, 39, of Athens, by Athens Borough police, on May 26, on North Elmira Street in Athens. A blood test revealed that Walter's blood alcohol content was .189 percent on the day of his arrest. Walter has been sent a summons to appear Aug. 15 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.
