Aggravated indecent assault reported
State police at Towanda said a 3-year-old female alleged that two people known to her touched her inappropriately on LeRaysville Road in Warren Township.
The date of the incident is unknown, said police.
According to police, an investigation is ongoing.
Man charged
State police at Towanda said Jason A. Hieatt, 34, of Troy Township, is accused in a burglary that took place sometime between 11 p.m., June 5 and 10:30 p.m., June 9 on Berger Lane in Troy Township.
The victim, Mary Buck, 58, of Troy Township, told police that someone entered her residence through an unlocked window; broke an antique lamp; took a Kindle Fire tablet, a digital camera, and gold jewelry; and fled the residence. According to police, a search warrant was obtained for Hieatt's residence and Buck's stolen camera and earring were located in his residence. Police said charges were filed for receiving stolen property through Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox's office in Troy. An investigation is ongoing.
Waverly woman charged
Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies recently arrested a Waverly woman on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
According to the sheriff's office, Wendy A. Cranmer, 36, is accused of purchasing alcohol and allowing four juveniles to consume alcohol July 28.
Cranmer was issued tickets to appear Aug. 5 in Barton Town Court.
Man arrested for child endangerment
A Waverly man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
According to the sheriff's office, David S. Stevenson, 38, allegedly purchased alcohol and allowed minors to consume alcohol in his presence July 28.
Stevenson was issued tickets to appear Aug. 5 in Barton Town Court.
Athens Boro police report possible scam
The Athens Borough Police Department asks residents to be aware of a possible scam reported to the department.
According to information from borough police, a resident reported that he or she received a recorded message from a female caller stating that she was with the Internal Revenue Service and asking the recipient to contact the agency regarding a time-sensitive matter that would require legal representation. The complainant did not respond to the caller's request, police said.
The IRS advised police that the call was a scam and that the name and telephone number provided by the message are not connected to the agency, police said. The IRS also plans to conduct its own investigation into the matter, police said.
Any borough resident receiving the above phone call is asked to contact the department at (570) 888-2222, police said.
