New Albany woman faces drug charges
Candice Joy Hercenberg, 29, of New Albany has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, police said.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on March 26, 2013, in which Hercenberg was in possession of six Oxycodone pills and a baggie containing 2.6 grams of a white powder, police said. The powder contained butylone, which is a Schedule I controlled substance, police said.
The incident occurred along U.S. Route 220 in Ulster Township, police said.
Hercenberg has been sent a summons which orders her to appear for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 24 before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark.
Woman faces theft charge
A Canton woman has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, to answer a charge of theft by unlawful taking.
According to information filed in Shaw's office, Jennifer Smith, 32, has also been charged by Towanda police with receiving stolen property. Smith is accused of stealing a ring owned by another person on July 30 at the Northern Tier Counseling office located on South Main Street in Towanda.
Smith is scheduled to appear before Judge Clark for her preliminary hearing on Sept. 7.
Motorcycle strikes deer
A Canton man suffered moderate injuries when the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer in Monroe Township.
According to state police, Christopher F. Abbott, 33, was driving a 1997 Kawasaki Concourse motorcycle east on state Route 414 around 6:17 a.m. on Aug. 5. Police said Abbott struck a deer which ran out in front of him. Abbott was wearing a motorcycle helmet when the crash occurred.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Monroe Township Fire Company.
Two injured in crash
Two people were reported injured recently when a two-vehicle crash occurred in Forks Township, Sullivan County.
According to state police, Daniel D. Kraus, 19, of Dushore was driving a 2004 Ford Focus south on U.S. Route 87 around 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 4. Police said the Ford crossed the center line of traffic on a curve in the road, into the path of a 2011 Ford Edge operated by Thomas A. Clark, 62, of Norristown, who was heading north on Route 87 at the time. Police said Clark applied the brakes to his vehicle, but was unable to avoid being struck by the Focus in the northbound lane of travel. Kraus and Susanne Clark, who was a passenger in the Edge at the time of the impact, were both injured from the accident. It was not reported if either required medical assistance. Police said charges will be filed against Kraus from the accident.
Criminal mischief reported
State police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief that occurred recently in Fox Township, Sullivan County.
State police at Laporte reported that perpetrators damaged a mailbox owned by Harry Woodington Jr. of Shunk between Aug. 2 and Aug. 3. Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to contact the state police at Laporte.
Change purse found
A change purse containing money was discovered recently at the Bradford County Towne Center in Wysox.
State police reported that the purse was found on Aug. 1 in a shopping cart outside the Dollar Tree parking lot. Police said the owner must provide a description of the purse and how much money it contained in order to claim it.
Police also reported that the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is requested to contact the state police at (570) 265-2186 and reference incident number P05-0790922.
No injuries
No injuries were reported when a two-vehicle collision occurred recently in Wysox Township.
According to state police, Gary Edward Benjamin, 23, of Towanda was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala on Sheshequin Road at 7:20 a.m. on Aug. 1. When Benjamin reached the intersection of James Street, according to the report, he attempted to merge onto the roadway without it being clear and failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic. In the process, the report continued, the Impala traveled into the path of a 2008 Subaru Legacy operated by Brandon Daniel Williams, 27, of Rome, who had been traveling west on James Street at the time. The two vehicles collided, police said, and the Subaru sustained disabling damage from the crash and had to be towed from the scene.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, and no airbags were deployed.
Police said a charge of failure to stop at a stop sign will be filed against Benjamin.
Barn broken into
State police are investigating a burglary that occurred recently at a barn in Herrick Township.
According to police, unknown persons used a crowbar to pry open the front door of a barn owned by Dale A. Kuhne, 55, of Bangor, Pa., located at 2238 Rummerfield Creek Rd. between July 12 and Aug. 2. Police said the perpetrators entered the barn, and then fled in an unknown direction. It is unknown if anything was taken from the barn.

Hit-and-run reported
State police are looking for the driver of a hit-and-run vehicle that recently left the scene of an accident in Asylum Township.
According to police, the unknown vehicle struck the rear of a 2002 Ford Ranger operated by Richard Floyd Vandeweert, 22, of Wysox. The Ranger was traveling south on U.S. Route 187 about 1/10 of a mile south of Echo Beach Road when the incident occurred around 10:10 p.m. The Ranger sustained minor damage in the rear section.
Woman charged with theft
A Towanda woman has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark to answer a charge of theft by unlawful taking.
According to information filed in Clark's office, Patricia Wilkinson, 54, has also been charged by Towanda police with receiving stolen property.
Wilkinson is accused of stealing from a neighbor's residence, a bottle containing Benztropine, pills which can be obtained via prescription. The incident occurred on July 8 at a private residence on Bridge Street in Towanda, according to the report.
Wilkinson is scheduled to appear before Judge Clark for her preliminary hearing on Sept. 17.
DUIs
The following people have been charged in Bradford County with driving while under the influence:
Danielle N. Shoemaker, 29, of Ulster, has also been charged by Athens Township police with crossing the center line of traffic. Shoemaker was charged following a one-vehicle accident on Orange Hill Road and McKinney Hill Road on July 4, 2014, around 9 p.m., in which her car left the road and struck a tree. After being taken into custody for DUI, Shoemaker was transported to Robert Packer Hospital, where she agreed to submit to a blood test. The test eventually revealed that Shoemaker's blood alcohol content was .16 percent on the day of her arrest. Shoemaker is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for her preliminary hearing on Sept. 9.
Crystal Hubbard, 30, of Towanda, has also been charged with endangering the welfare of a child; operating a vehicle without a license; crossing the center line of traffic; careless driving; and failure to wear her seatbelt.
Hubbard was charged by state police following a one vehicle crash that occurred on June 28 on Manahan Road in Franklin Township. Police arrived at the Memorial Hospital emergency room to investigate a report of a woman involved in the crash, who appeared to be under the influence. Police said they spoke with Hubbard, who failed a number of field tests for DUI at the time. Police said Hubbard consented to a blood test at the hospital, which eventually revealed the presence of morphine and other drugs in her system, as well as a blood alcohol content of .214 percent.
Hubbard has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on Sept. 19.
Joshua Parsons, 19, of Towanda, was also charged by Sayre police with leaving the scene of an accident; reckless driving; crossing the center line of traffic; and operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed following an motor vehicle accident on North Keystone Avenue on June 23 around 11:41 p.m. After being taken into custody, Parsons was transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where he consented to a blood test. The test eventually revealed the presence of a controlled substance in Parson's blood on the day of his arrest, according to the report.
Parsons is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Sept. 14 for his preliminary hearing.
