Burglary occurs in Monroe Boro
State police said they are trying to determine who broke into Earl F. Decker's residence on James Monroe Avenue in Monroe Borough.
The burglar used a prying mechanism to enter Decker's rear door and stole four rifles from the residence, police said.
The burglary occurred sometime between July 4 and July 7, state police said.

False alarm citation pending against Wysox store
State police said that they have responded to four false burglary alarms within a 12-month period at the Dollar General store on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox Township.
The most recent false alarm was on Aug. 13, state police said.
A business may not, after causing or permitting three false alarms to occur in a 12-month period, cause or permit a subsequent false alarm to occur in the same 12-month period, police said.
A citation for Control of Alarm Devices and Automatic Dialing Devices, which is a summary offense, is pending against the Dollar General store in Wysox District Court, police said.
Burglary occurs at Towanda physician's office
A burglary recently occurred at the Caribou Medical office, 520 Main St., Towanda, police said.
Nothing was affected that could lead to identity theft, said Shelia Leljedal, an employee at Caribou Medical.
The burglar or burglars "were only after one thing: money or drugs," she said.
The burglary occurred in the early morning of Aug. 19, Towanda police said.
The Towanda police said they were not releasing further information at this time about the burglary, in order that their investigation not be jeopardized.

Gun stolen in Cherry Twp.
Someone stole a 9 mm Taurus PT 24/7 pistol, two fully loaded magazines, and a black nylon holster from a drawer under the front passenger seat of an unlocked vehicle in Cherry Township, police said.
The theft occurred sometime between July 7 and July 12 along Shinerville Road, state police said.

Man reportedly holds machete in Rome during argument
Two men got into an argument recently inside the Dandy Mini Mart in Rome after one of them would not allow the other to pass in a posted passing zone, police said.
The man who would not allow the other to pass was reported to be holding a machete during the argument, police said.
The incident occurred at 10:54 a.m. on Aug. 15, state police at Towanda said.
The victim decided to not pursue criminal charges, police said.
Man charged with possession
The Sayre Borough Police department charged Timothy Charles Zimmer of Waverly with a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop conducted on July 30.
Man charged with assault
Officers responded to an alleged active physical domestic disturbance on Aug. 21, 2014 in Milltown, Sayre Borough. Upon arrival, Sayre Borough Police arrested Darren E. Ryan of Sayre and he was charged with simple assault and harassment. Ryan was arraigned on Aug. 22, by Judge Clark and released on $7,500 bail.
One vehicle accident
Pennsylvania State Police reported a one-vehicle accident on Aug. 8, on Centerville Road in Ridgebury Township. The alleged operator of the vehicle, Robert E. Leonard of Gillett fled the scene prior to police arrival. Leonard was later issued a violation for roadways lined for traffic.
Criminal mischief/criminal trespass citations issued
Pennsylvania State Police were called to a private farm in Ulster Township as a result of a disturbance. State Police reported that citations were issued to Bryan R. Benninger of Ulster for criminal trespass after he was caught on private property without permission. Also cited was Thomas A. Walters of Milan after he allegedly cracked the windshield and broke the antennae of Benninger's vehicle to cause approximately $300 of damage.
Theft reported
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft of a royalty check from a 67-year-old male victim from Athens. Anyone with information regarding the commission of this crime is asked to contact the State Police in Towanda at 570-265-2186 or 800-PA-TIPS. Anonymous calls are accepted with up to a $2000 cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
Items stolen in Smithfield Township
Unknown parties stole diesel fuel, PVC type septic pipes and assorted wrenches and tools from a property in Smithfield Township, according to a report filed with the Pennsylvania State Police on Aug. 22. The investigation is ongoing and any information regarding the crime should be reported to the police.
Bicycles stolen
Two children's bicycles were reported stolen to the Pennsylvania State Police on Aug. 21, from a residence in Terry Township. The investigation is ongoing and any information regarding the crime should be reported to the police.
Man charged with harassment
On Aug. 22, Pennsylvania State Police were called to a residence in Sheshequin Township after a report of an alleged domestic disturbance. Walter K. Donovan was charged with harassment after getting into an argument in which he allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat and choked them.
DUI
Following a traffic stop on July 26, the Sayre Borough Police department charged David Arthur Bidlack of Sayre with a total of seven offenses including: three counts of DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle with invalid inspection and failure to use turn signals. Bidlack was stopped after officers observed a vehicle with a cracked windshield and 2012 inspection sticker make an turn on to Allison Street without the use of a signal.
