DUI arrest made
Athens Borough Police officer Andrew Stevens reported that at 1:14 a.m. on Aug. 30, he witnessed a vehicle traveling north on Main Street in Athens Borough as it accelerated and swerved, nearly striking the curb. The vehicle then stopped in the roadway at a flashing yellow light. The officer then activated his lights to initiate a traffic stop on North Main Street.
The officer approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Casey M. Stillman, 21, of Sayre. While speaking with Stillman, Officer Stevens detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her breath. The officer reported that Stillman was slurring her words and could not complete a whole sentence. When asked if she had consumed any alcoholic beverages that day, Stillman stated, "no." The passenger of the vehicle then quickly stated, "yes you did, don't lie." Stillman then told the officer that she had been drinking. While turning over her necessary paperwork, Stillman stated to the officer, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't be driving."
Officer Stevens asked Stillman to perform the standard field sobriety tests, which were performed unsuccessfully. Stillman was placed under arrest at this time. While being transported to the hospital for blood testing, Stillman was cursing repeatedly and cursed intentionally to the female security guard upon arrival. Although she was warned that her cursing could be cause for additional charges, Stillman continued to do so.
Stillman was charged with DUI: highest rate of alcohol, DUI: general impairment and disorderly conduct. She was arraigned on Aug. 30 and received $7,500 bail.
