Theft reported

An unknown suspect allegedly entered two vehicles located on a residential property on the Berwick Turnpike, Ridgebury Township in the late evening on Sept. 4 or early morning of Sept. 5. The victims reported the theft of approximately $60 in change and four winning scratch-off lottery tickets while the vehicles were parked in the driveway of their residence.

Information on this crime is asked to be reported to the Towanda barracks of the Pennsylvania State Troopers, (570) 265-2186.

No injuries in DUI crash

Pennsylvania State Police responded to a one vehicle accident that occurred on the Berwick Turnpike in Ridgebury Township at approximately 12:05 a.m. on Aug. 17. Upon arriving at the location, Trooper Tyler Brackman reported that driver Donald Perry, 40, of Troy, lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway. He then struck a ditch and came to rest immediately after striking the ditch.

No injuries were reported and Brackman was wearing his safety belt.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Ridgebury Township Fire Department, Greater Valley E.M.S. and Sutton's Towing.

Trooper Brackman arrested Perry for DUI and other summary traffic violations.

Assault investigation occurs

Trooper Michael Tereska of the Pennsylvania State Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 on Sevenhills Drive in Rome Borough.

Upon arrival the female victim reported that she and the suspect were separated but the male had returned to the residence. The suspect proceeded to argue with the victim which then escalated into a physical altercation.

The victim reported that she was shoved, choked and struck multiple times by the suspect. He then broke several belongings in the house including a clock and heater. The suspect tried to grab the victim's purse. When she tried to retrieve it, the suspect began to strike her again.

The suspect retreated outside at that time and the victim locked the doors to the residence. The suspect then began kicking the doors and damaged the outside grill. He then began to strike the windows so the victim fled out the back door to call for help.

Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating this report. No further information regarding charges for this incident were available.

Vehicle strikes bear in Cherry Township

William J. Rausher Jr., 31, of Athens was uninjured when the vehicle he was driving struck a bear on U.S. Route 220 in Cherry Township, Sullivan County, police said.

The bear, which had entered Rausher's path of travel, was killed in the accident, state police at Laporte said.

The accident occurred at 1 a.m. Monday, approximately .2 miles south of township Route 383, police.

Burglary occurs in Windham Twp.

State police said they are trying to determine who committed a burglary at a residence on Battlecreek Road in Windham Township.

The residence is owned by Kathryn Elizabeth Shulas of Towanda, police said.

Sometime between July 5 and Sept. 18, someone entered the residence and stole several items, police said.

Lopez man pleads guilty to public drunkenness

Douglas Edward Delovich, 36, of Lopez recently pleaded guilty to a charge of public drunkenness, according to the state police at Laporte.

The charge stems from a Sept. 14 incident in which Delovich, who was highly intoxicated, was yelling obscenities at members of the public as he stood along the edge of Third Street in Mildred, police said.

N. Towanda man cited for harassment

Dale Miller, 79, of North Towanda Township has been cited for harassment, police said.

The citation stems from a Sept. 8 incident in which Miller threatened harm to a 50-year-old man from North Towanda Township.

The incident occurred at a location in the township, police said.
