Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported that the following persons were recently sentenced in the Court of Common Pleas in Towanda:
Derrick Rieco Jr, 22, of Canton, Pa., was sentenced to Probation for a term of six months and a fine of $300 for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Officer Joshua Heckman of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Rieco for the offense on April 7, 2013.
Jessica Miller, 32, of Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in Bradford County Correctional Facility for seven months to 23 months, 29 days, fines and costs of $2000, restitution of $97,619 and Probation for a term of 36 months for the offense of Theft, a Felony of the third degree. Trooper Jeffrey Sredenschek of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Miller following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Township.
Daniel Heeman, 31, of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for three months to 23 months, 29 days and fines of $500 for the offense of Retail Theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Officer Denny Slater of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Heeman for the offense on April 1, 2014.
Carlton Heasley, 33, of Gillett, Pa., was sentenced to fines of $250 and Probation for a term of six months for the offense of Attempted Theft, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Trooper Tyler Brackman of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Heasley following investigation of an incident that occurred in Sheshequin Township on March 4, 2014.
Justin VanBuren, 20, of Towanda, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for four months, 15 days to 23 months, 29 days, fine of $1100, restitution of $1036.35, followed by Probation for a term of 12 months for the offenses of Criminal Trespass, one a felony of the second degree, and one a misdemeanor of the third degree. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested VanBuren for the offense in April and May 2014.
Zachary Ward, 24, of Waverly, N.Y., was sentenced to Probation for a term of 12 months and fines of $250 plus $50.00, for the offenses of Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness. Officer Bruce Hoffman of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Ward for the offence in March 2014.
Anthony Brannon, 48, of Cambridge, Ohio, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 60 days to 12 months followed by Probation for a term of six months and a fine of $300 for the offenses of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol and False ID to Law Enforcement. Trooper Joseph Mitchell of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Brannon following investigation of an incident that occurred in Towanda Borough.
Gary Cupit, 50, of Clinton, La., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 90 days to six months and a fine of $1500 for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Trooper Michael Tribendis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Cupit following investigation of an incident that occurred in Burlington Township.

James Sonnema, 66, Gillett, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Sonnema will be sentenced following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper William McDermott of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Sonnema following an investigation of an incident that occurred in Wells Township on May 6, 2014.
Gary Cupit, 50, Clinton, La., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Cupit was immediately sentenced. Trooper Michael Tribendis of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Cupit following an investigation of an incident that occurred in Burlington Township.
Christopher Boyer, 41, Nichols, N.Y., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Boyer will be sentenced on Oct. 30, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Cody Welch of the Athens Borough Police Department arrested Boyer for the offense in June 2014.
Daniel Bustin, 24, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Receiving Stolen Property, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Bustin will be sentenced on Oct. 30, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Steven Burlingame of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Bustin for the offense in October 2013.
Justin VanBuren, 20, Towanda, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Receiving Stolen Property, a misdemeanor of the third degree. VanBuren will be sentenced on Sept. 29, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested VanBuren for the offense on April 30, 2014.
