Sayre man cited for criminal mischief

Charles M. Deskins, 34, of Sayre has been cited for the summary offense of criminal mischief after he smashed out the back window of a 26-year-old woman's vehicle, police said.

The incident occurred earlier this month along River Road in Standing Stone Township, state police at Towanda said.

Teenager cited for harassment in Towanda Twp.

A 16-year-old female has been cited for the summary offense of harassment after she slapped a 17-year-old male in the face at the Chestnut Hills Apartments in Towanda Township, police said.

The incident occurred at 3 p.m. Saturday, state police said.

Wheel lost in Cherry Twp. crash

A 17-year-old male from Dushore was involved in a recent motor vehicle accident in Cherry Township, Sullivan County, police said.

The teenager was driving west on Kelly Road at 11:45 a.m. Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle on a left-hand curve, police said.

The vehicle struck a guide rail off the north berm of the road, police said.

The impact removed the passenger side front wheel from the vehicle as the vehicle slid down the guide rail, police said.

State police at Laporte said they did not know if the teenager was injured.

Gas stolen in Dushore

Richard Allen Weston of Dushore reported that a container, which had several gallons of gasoline inside it, was recently stolen from his back porch, police said.

The thief or thieves may have also tried to remove fuel from his vehicle, state police said.

The incident occurred sometime between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, along Headley Avenue, police said.

Man accused of possession

A Towanda man was arrested by state police recently on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Larry Burton Bennett, 53, of 301 Mulcahy Rd., has also been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported being contacted by Patricia Hinckley on July 2, who informed them that Bennett, her boyfriend, was high on bath salts, and was also drug-related items inside their apartment. When they responded to the residence, police said, Hinckley signed a waiver of rights and consent to search form, allowing them to search the premises. Police said they found a number of drug paraphernalia at the residence, including a plastic bag containing what later tested positive as bath salts.

Bennett was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Mike Shaw, ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $20,000 bail. Bennett's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for today before Judge Clark.

Man charged with aggravated assault

A Wysox man was arrested by Towanda police recently on a charge of aggravated assault.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Wesley Sean Selcer, 24, of 1958 Golden Mile Rd., has also been charged with recklessly endangering another person; possession of a firearm without a valid license; and defiant trespass.

Selcer is accused of refusing to leave private property in Towanda on July 20, even being asked several times to do so, according to reports. During the incident, police said, Selcer pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Don Trojanek, who is the owner of the property.

Police said they eventually caught up to Selcer in the Wysox area and took him into custody. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox, who ordered the defendant incarcerated in lieu of $50,000 bail. Selcer's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 31 before Judge Clark.

Man charged with disorderly conduct

A Towanda man was arrested by state police recently on a charge of disorderly conduct.

According to police, Jeffrey Salsberry, 46, was also charged with harassment following an incident at Snell's Auto Center in Wysox on July 20. Salsberry is accused of threatening someone, causing alarm to employees and customers by yelling and using offensive language.

Man cited for harassment

A Towanda man was cited by state police recently on a charge of harassment.

According to police, Sean Weldy, 41, was charged with the above offense on July 18, following an incident in Wysox Township. Weldy is accused of reaching into another man's vehicle, grabbing his shirt, and poking him in the face with is finger while threatening him.

Woman cited for fleeing

A Towanda woman was cited by state police recently, after attempting to flee from them on an ATV.

According to police, April M. Thetga, 31, was charged with fleeing and eluding on July 18. Thetga is accused of fleeing on an ATV after a traffic stop was performed on state Route 3020 in Towanda Township. Thetga attempted to drive through a gas well pad in the process, police reported, but crashed into a ditch. After the crash, police said, Thetga fled on foot through a field, but was apprehended.

DUI charge

The following person was charged in Bradford County recently with driving while under the influence:

Luis E. Gonzalez, 24, Labelle, Fla. on July 4, by Towanda police. Gonzalez is also accused of following too closely; careless driving; and driving on the wrong side of the road. A blood alcohol test later revealed that Gonzalez's blood alcohol content was .17 percent on the day of his arrest. Gonzalez has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark on Aug. 30.
