Four involved in fight

On Oct. 26, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a residence in Litchfield Township in response to a verbal argument which escalated into a physical fight. Upon arrival, Troopers found 23-year-old Randy Talada of Sayre, 42-year-old Lee Heim of Sayre and two juvenile males, aged 14 and 15, engaged in the argument.

Vehicle theft occurs

The incident occurred between Oct. 19-20, when the victim reported that one of his vehicles was stolen out of his garage on Beacon Hill Road in Wyalusing and another vehicle was damaged. The stolen vehicle is a red 2005 Chrysler Sebring two door car with a PA registration number HFN0945. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Craigslist scam reported

The incident occurred on Oct. 30, when a victim in Smithfield Township reported a possible theft by deception after selling her furniture on Craigslist. Anyone with information on this incident should contact the state police in Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Mail theft occurs

On Oct. 29, a victim on Mac Road in Smithfield Township reported to Pennsylvania State Police that someone illegally removed mail from his mailbox. The investigation is ongoing.

Illegal attempt to purchase a weapon reported

On Aug. 29, a 28-year-old Athens man attempted to purchase a handgun at Up In Arms Shooting Supplies in Smithfield Township. The paperwork required by the ATF and Pennsylvania State Police background check was completed and the system denied the purchase. The investigation is ongoing.

Hit and run reported

Pennsylvania State Police reported a one vehicle crash that occurred on Doty Hill Road in South Creek Township on Oct. 22. The incident occurred as the vehicle was travelling north on Doty Hill Road when it left its lane of travel and struck a rock pillar. The vehicle then left the scene. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.

Retail theft reported

Stephani L. Greene, 24, of Elmira, was arrested by Athens Township Police officers on Nov. 4 after a call from asset protection officers at the Walmart in Sayre. Greene allegedly hid merchandise in her children's diaper bag and tried to leave the store without payment. She was charged with corruption of minors and retail theft. She was arraigned on Nov. 4 and received $300 bail. Greene is set to face these charges at a preliminary hearing at a later date.

Man charged after 'huffing' in parking lot

Lucas A. Rhoads, 24, of Charleston, Ill., was arrested by Athens Township Police officers on Nov. 4 after a response to a report of a male "huffing" inhalants in a Jeep in the Walmart in Sayre. Officers arriving at the scene found the vehicle and Rhoads was passed out in the driver's seat. At the time, the vehicle was running.

Officers observed several cans of Ultra Duster in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, with one laying on Rhoads' lap.

After waking the suspect, police took Rhoads to the Athens Township Police Station and he was processed. It was then noted that this was the third such incident related to the subject's use of Ultra Duster since Nov. 2.

Rhoads was subsequently charged with two counts of sale or illegal use of certain solvents and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned on Nov. 4 and received $10,000 bail. Rhoads is set to face Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 25.
