Bradford County District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported the following resolutions of criminal cases in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda:
Sentenced
James Sonnema, 66, Gillett, Pa., was sentenced to fines of $300, and Probation for a term of six months for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Trooper William McDermott of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Sonnema following investigation of an incident that occurred in Wells Township.
Samuel Corey, 22, Troy, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility for 12 months to 36 months and fines of $500, for the offense of Burglary. Trooper Steve Steransky of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Corey following investigation of an incident that occurred in Troy Borough.
Brandon Seeley, 25, Sayre, Pa., was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for a flat 45 days and fines of $2,500, County Intermediate Punishment for 24 months for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Trooper William McDermott of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Seeley following investigation of an incident that occurred in Litchfield Township. County Intermediate Punishment involves a combination of restrictions and supervision. It may include home confinement, electronic monitor, and substance abuse treatment. Violations can result in incarceration.

Guilty Pleas
Edward Schrader, 65, Sayre, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Indecent Assault, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Schrader will be sentenced in February, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department, and a report by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board. Sentencing is delayed because the Board report takes at least 90 days. Officer Sean Flynn of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Schrader for the offense in October.
Cory Briggs, 29, Gillett, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Firearm not to be Carried w/o License, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Briggs will be sentenced on Dec. 22, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford county Probation Department. Officer Roger Clink of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Briggs for the offense on June 10, 2014.
Christopher Heasley, 25, Fassett, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Public Drunkenness, a summary offense. Heasley will be sentenced on Dec. 22, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Kyle Gruber of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Heasley following investigation of an incident that occurred in Troy Borough.
Martin Rockwell, 23, Canton, Pa., entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Rockwell will be sentenced on Dec. 22, 2014, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department arrested Rockwell for the offense in July 2014.

Casey Stillman, 20, Sayre, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation, Stillman will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Stillman must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Officer Andrew Stevens of the Athens Borough Police Department filed the charges in August 2014 for the offense in Athens Borough.
Ernest Vanderpool, 73, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Vanderpool will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Vanderpool must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 60 days.
Officer John Werner of the Towanda Borough Police Department filed the charges in August 2014 for the offense in Towanda Borough.
Christian Kovacs, 31, Athens, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation, Kovacs will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Kovacs must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Officer Andrew Stevens of the Athens Borough Police Department filed the charges in July 2014 for the offense in Athens Borough.
Sayla Kane, 20, Hancock, N.Y., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of nine months. While on probation, Kane will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Kane must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and she will lose her Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Officer Trey Kurtz of the Canton Borough Police Department filed the charges in August 2014 for the offense in Canton Borough.
Peter Negron, 32, Ulster, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation, Negron will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Additionally, Negron must perform community service with the DUI Litter Brigade and attend a Victim Impact Panel and he will lose his Pennsylvania driving privilege for 30 days. Stephen Comereski, 20, Ulster, Pa., charged with the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of 12 months. While on probation, Comereski will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Officer Denny Slater of the Athens Township Police Department filed the charges in August 2014 for the offense in Athens Township.
Paige McCabe, 20, Towanda, Pa., charged with the offense of Retail Theft, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of six months. While on probation, McCabe will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use.
Officer John Fedorchak of the Athens Township Police Department filed the charges in September 2014 for the offense in Athens Township.
NOLO CONTENDERE
Christopher Heasley, 25, Fassett, Pa., entered a plea of nolo contendere/no contest to Resisting Arrest, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Heasley will be sentenced on Dec. 22, 2014, following preparation of a pre-sentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. A no-contest plea is entered where the defendant cannot recall the event but will be held guilty and sentenced. Trooper Kyle Gruber of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Heasley following investigation of an incident that occurred in Troy Borough.
