Crash reported

On Oct. 25, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a one vehicle crash on North Rome Road in Rome Township. A vehicle, driven by Cody P. Allemond, 24, of Carencro, La., lost control when exiting a left curve. The vehicle then traveled into the eastbound lane and struck an embankment on the eastbound shoulder of North Rome Road. Due to the impact, the vehicle overturned and came to rest on the driver's side of the vehicle.

The investigation into this incident is currently underway.

Burglary occurs

Pennsylvania State Police were called for a reported incident of burglary which occurred on Nov. 1 on Route 220 in Ulster Township. The incident occurred as the victim and his nephew arrived home after leaving the residence for approximately four hours. They found several items missing from inside and a window that appeared to have been entered. Bike stolen

Sometime between Oct. 28-29, an unknown person took a black bicycle from behind the Subway restaurant on Route 6 in Wyalusing Township. Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact the Towanda barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police at (570) 265-2186.

Woman arrested for DUI

On Oct. 11, officers with the Athens Borough Police Department reported the arrest of Kimberly Ann P. Wilkinson, 40, of Athens, for several offenses related to driving while intoxicated.

According to the statements filed by officers, Wilkinson was observed driving a green minivan north on North Elmira Street while swerving across the double yellow lines of the roadway. The vehicle also stopped at a flashing yellow light at North Elmira Street and West Pine Street and performed a very wide turn onto West Pine Street. At this time, a traffic stop was initiated.

During the traffic stop, Wilkinson was found to have a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her person and her speech was slow and slurred. Wilkinson was then asked to perform the standard battery of field sobriety tests, which she failed to perform in a satisfactory manner.

Wilkinson was subsequently arrested and charged with: DUI: highest rate of alcohol, DUI: general impairment, required position of turning and driving on the right side of the roadway. She is set to answer these charges at a preliminary hearing with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Dec. 19.

Call to police results in DUI arrest

On Oct. 28, Bradford County dispatch relayed to officers with the Sayre Borough Police Department a call regarding a drunk driver in the area of Lockhart Street in the borough. The caller relayed to officers that they observed the driver of a white pick-up truck leave Walmart and stumble to their vehicle. The caller then followed the driver for an amount of time as they placed the call to police.

Sayre Borough Police officers responded and observed a truck, with the engine running, on North Keystone Avenue in a driveway. The driver, Robert C. Elliott, 41, of Sayre, was approached and observed with mumbled speech and blood-shot eyes. He also had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from his person.

Elliott was then asked to perform the standard battery of field sobriety tests, which he failed to perform in a satisfactory manner.

Wilkinson was subsequently arrested and charged with: DUI: highest rate of alcohol. He is set to answer these charges at a preliminary hearing with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Dec. 19.

One vehicle accident results in DUI charge

Officers with the Sayre Borough Police Department responded to an emergency call regarding a one vehicle accident on Sept. 27, between South Hopkins Street and South Keystone Avenue.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers found a red Saab facing northbound, up on the grass divider between the two streets. The vehicle had struck a sign, destroying it, and a telephone pole, causing a small amount of damage to it.

The driver was discovered to be Cory M. Rose, 21, of Athens, who was found on the phone. When asked if he was OK, Rose responded to officers that he "was on the phone to police to turn himself in because he was drinking and driving."

Rose was then taken by ambulance to the Robert Packer Hospital for evaluation.

He was later charged with DUI: highest rate of alcohol and reckless driving. Rose will face these charges at a preliminary hearing on Dec. 14, with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw.

Retail theft reported

Athens Township Police reported the arrest of Alan V. Levin, 53, of Hammondsport, for the offenses of retail theft and receiving stolen property on Nov. 13, at the Walmart store in Sayre.

Asset protection employees within the store called police to report that a man, later identified as Levin, left the store after being asked to stop, because employees had observed him trying to take merchandise without payment.

When confronted by employees, Levin then threw the merchandise and ran out the back of the store. He was witnessed leaving the area in a silver car and was later located by officers on patrol.

Walmart employees were able to tally the cost of the items that Levin had attempted to remove from the store and the amount totalled $485.08.

Levin was subsequently arrested and charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property. He will face Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Dec. 16 for a preliminary hearing.
