Argument leads to drug arrests
Officers with the Athens Township Police Department responded to Mountain View Manor in Athens Township for a reported domestic disturbance on Nov. 10.
Upon their arrival, officers found Kamry M. Smiley, 24, of Sayre, and Brandon C. Eschenburg, 26, of Athens, standing near the driver's side of a vehicle which was parked in an odd manner in the parking lot. Officers reported being familiar with the individuals as they have responded to domestic incidences involving the two in the past.
In their speaking with Smiley and Eschenburg, officers observed Eschenburg to be under the influence of an unknown narcotic, possibly opiates. Eschenburg advised the officers that the two had been arguing, but that he was just dropping Smiley off at the apartment complex.
While speaking with Eschenburg, another officer indicated that he had previously seen Eschenburg remove an item from Smiley's purse and place it under the front driver's seat of the vehicle. When asked about this movement, Eschenburg became agitated and nervous. A short time later he removed the item and showed officers the contents which were: numerous hypodermic needles, a metal spoon and pieces of cotton. At this time, Eschenburg advised the officers that the items belonged to Smiley. Smiley however, advised the officers that the items belonged to Eschenburg.
Officers found additional paraphernalia items upon their inspection of the vehicle.
Kamry M. Smiley was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Nov. 18 and received $100 bail. She waived her preliminary hearing and will face the charges in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas at a later date.
Brandon C. Eschenburg was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Nov. 18 and received non-monetary bail. He waived his preliminary hearing and will face the charges in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas at a later date.
Retail theft reported
On Nov. 15, associates from Walmart contacted the Athens Township Police to report they had detained an individual for shoplifting.
Upon arrival, officers arrested Poppy R. Hunsinger, 22, of Monroeton, and charged her with the offenses of retail theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
As Hunsinger was being processed at the police station, officers discovered a white pill in a small plastic bag, along with a small straw. Therefore, she was charged with the additional drug related charges.
Theft, fraud, forgery reported
A victim on Gordon Farr Street in Ulster Township reported that unauthorized charges were made against their bank account some time between Oct. 24 and Nov. 3.
Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating a suspect in reference to this incident.
Marijuana possession reported
Pennsylvania State Police report that on Nov. 7, Douglas E. Smith, 37, of Gillett, was arrested and charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest is the result of State Police serving a warrant on an unrelated charge and discovering the items in plain sight at the residence of the accused.
Theft of trapping supplies occurs
On Nov. 1, a male victim in Ulster Township reported the theft of several jars of homemade trapping lure missing from the inside of his shed and a coyote trap missing from the rear porch of his residence. Lewdness charge reported
Pennsylvania State Police reported the arrest of 53-year-old Wyalusing resident, Karl A. Ridenour on Nov. 12, after an incident on Route 6 in Wyalusing.
State police responded to the overlook on Route 6 after they received information about a man masturbating in his vehicle. Two witnesses related that they saw the defendant in his vehicle and told troopers that there was a child asleep in the backseat.
Ridenour was contacted at his residence a short time later and although admitting to being at the overlook, denied that he was engaging in the lewd conduct. The welfare of the child was confirmed and information relayed to the child's mother and Children and Youth Services.
On Nov. 8, Ridenour admitted to police that he was engaging in open lewd conduct on the Route 6 overpass. A summons was then issued for his appearance in court to answer the charge. He is set to face Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Dec. 23.
Damage to vehicle
On Nov. 12, Pennsylvania State Police received a notice of criminal mischief at a residence on the Berwick Turnpike in Ridgebury Township. On that date, the victim reported that the passenger side mirror of her vehicle was damaged and her passenger side tire was deflated.

Wyalusing student found with marijuana
On Nov. 21, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to Wyalusing High School in Wyalusing Township for a report of a student found with a small amount of marijuana and a marijuana pipe. The accused is described as a 16-year-old male who was subsequently released into the custody of a guardian.
The youth was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Oct. 3, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to Wyalusing High School in Wyalusing Township for a report of a student found with a small amount of marijuana. The accused is described as a 13-year-old male who was subsequently released into the custody of a guardian.

Harassment charges brought
Pennsylvania State Police reported on Oct. 26, Kevin Sorenson, 50, of Towanda, and Tabitha Wolf, 26, of Towanda, engaged in a verbal argument which turned physical. The altercation allegedly took place on Woodside Terrace in Sheshequin Township.
Theft of large amount of money occurs
Some time between Sept. 9 and Sept. 27, an unknown actor(s) obtained US currency belonging to a 60-year-old victim from Wyalusing, at the Camptown Dandy Mini Mart. The investigation is ongoing by the Pennsylvania State Police. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact PSP in Towanda at (570) 265-2186 or 800-4-PA-TIPS. A name is not required and information which leads to an arrest may result in a reward of up to $2,000 cash.
Theft of money reported
Some time between February and October of 2014, an 81-year-old male in Ulster Township was the victim of the theft of a large amount of money from his personal bank account. The thefts were committed by an individual known by the victim, during the aforementioned time span. The investigation into this matter is ongoing by the Pennsylvania State Police.
One vehicle accident reported
On Nov. 19, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a one vehicle accident which occurred at Route 2010 in Terry Township as a vehicle, for unknown reasons, traveled across the double yellow lines and into a ditch. The vehicle then struck a utility pole and continued for approximately 150 feet before coming to rest in a field on the north side of the roadway. The driver was identified as 18-year-old Colston W. Gowin of Sugar Run, who was uninjured in the crash.
The vehicle was removed from the scene by Fulmer's Garage. New Albany Fire Department assisted on the scene.
Cabin burglary occurs
Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating a break in at a cabin on Painter Road in Warren Township. The victim reported that when he went to inspect his cabin, he noticed an unknown actor(s) entered the cabin through a basement door. They then forced entry into a shed near the cabin. It is unknown if anything was taken during the incident. An investigation is ongoing.

Corruption of minors investigation taking place
State police are investigating a corruption of minors incident in which Bradford County Children and Youth Services reported that a 16-year-old juvenile female was involved in a sexual relationship with a 25-year-old male between Jan. 6 and Oct. 10 in Wysox Township.
The investigation is ongoing.
Criminal mischief occurs near Monroe Township
Three people were recently the victims of criminal mischief that occurred on State Route 220 north of Monroe Township between 11 p.m. of Dec. 12 and 1 a.m. of Dec. 13.
According to state police, it was during this time that unknown actor(s) ran over four mailboxes belonging to the victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at (570) 265-2186.
Hit-and-run crash occurs in Sullivan County
A hit-and-run crash occurred recently at Baumunk's General Store in Fox Township in Sullivan County.
According to state police, Michael Czypecki, 35, of Masontown was driving a 2005 Suzuki Grand Vitara north on State Route 154 at approximately 11 p.m. on Dec. 15 when he lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to travel down a grass embankment and over a low stone wall. The vehicle became airborne as a result and came to a final rest in a flower garden on top of a water well head. Czypecki then fled the scene in the vehicle, which sustained severe damage as a result of the crash.
Czypecki was not injured in the crash and was wearing his seat belt. Various traffic citations were filed through the Sullivan County District Magistrate's office.
Men face hearing on theft
Steven Nicholas Vanderpool, 20, of Laceyville, faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton of Wysox on a charge of theft by unlawful taking or disposition for an incident that took place Oct. 9 on Springhill Road in Tuscarora Township, according to court papers.
The papers note that Vanderpool is charged with the theft of a 5-7 HP electric motor, a gearbox, drive wheels, and steel weights. This silo unloader equipment has a $3,450 value. The charge is a felony of the third degree.
In the same case, Michael Edward Walter Jr., 22, of Laceyville, is also charged with the same offense and faces a preliminary hearing before Wheaton. The hearings had been set for Dec. 16, but Wheaton's office said they were continued. A new date wasn't yet known.
The owner of the items was redacted in the court papers.
Minor injuries
State police at Towanda said two people had minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 3:54 p.m. Dec. 9 on Barrett Hill Road in Troy Township.
Police said Austin W. Kleintop, 24, of Walnutport, Pa., was traveling north, when the front bucket on his vehicle dropped and dug into the dirt ground.
Kleintop and Rodger S. Holtzer, 47, of Lehighton, Pa., a passenger in his vehicle, had minor injuries and were taken by Western Alliance to Troy Community Hospital, police said.
Harassment charges filed
State police at Towanda said charges for harassment were filed through District Court 42-3-01 after Faith Bassett, 54, of Tobyhanna, contacted a 25-year-old Canton Township woman by phone at 9:37 p.m. Nov. 25, after being told not to by the victim and Pennsylvania State Police on an earlier date.
No one injured
State police at Towanda said no injuries were reported in an incident that occurred at 8:55 a.m. Sept. 25 on Route 706 in Wyalusing Township.
Drivers involved were Kathleen F. Edsell, 47, of Wyalusing, and Patrick Foley, 27, of Dallas, Pa., police said.
According to police, Foley was traveling south and Edsell was traveling north. As they met each other in opposing lanes, a large metal piece of equipment fell off the back of Foley's vehicle. The piece of equipment slid across the road and struck the front end area and undercarriage of Edsell's vehicle, disabling it. Foley continued to travel south on Route 706.
Police said Foley was charged with a violation of "securing loads in vehicles."
Man waives hearing on possession
Curtis Dylan Opdyke, 23, of Troy, waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy to the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas for a drug paraphernalia charge for an incident at 12:40 p.m. Nov. 5 on Leona Road in Springfield Township, according to Wilcox.
Court papers note that Opdyke used, or possessed with the intent to use, drug paraphernalia, namely plastic bags containing marijuana residue, for the purpose of storing/containing marijuana.
No injuries
State police at Towanda said Cari L. Carlson, 31, of Troy, was not injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 9:49 a.m. Dec. 11 on Route 6 in Troy Township.
Police said she was traveling east and lost control of her Pontiac Grand Prix, while negotiating a right hand curve. Police said her vehicle struck an embankment on the northern shoulder of the roadway.
Police said she was charged, but they did not list the offense.
No criminal violation
State police at Towanda said they were notified Dec. 8 of a PFA violation that occurred July 19 in LeRoy Township that involved a 3-year-old male juvenile.
However, police said the investigation into the complaint revealed that no criminal violation was committed.
One injured
State police at Towanda said Brock A. Campbell, 19, of Canton, had a minor injury in a one-vehicle crash at 1:48 a.m. Nov. 30 on Southside Road in Canton Township.
Police said he was driving east in a Dodge Dakota and traveled off the north shoulder of the roadway, striking a tree.
Police said he was charged with a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed."
Man charged with DUI
State police at Towanda said Ryan James O'Hart, 26, of LeRaysville, was stopped for a traffic violation at 12:34 p.m. Nov. 30 on Route 220 Southbound, south of North Rome Road, in Rome Borough, and was subsequently found to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
Police said he was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. He was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance as well as possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia through District Court 42-3-04, police said.
People charged with DUI
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance in Bradford County:
Sherryann Cathleen Levindoski, 46, of Troy, by Pennsylvania State Police for a crash at approximately 9:59 a.m. Nov. 3 on Coolbaugh Hill Road in Granville Township.
Police said the alcohol concentration in Levindoski's blood was .323 percent.
She was also charged with driving a motor vehicle upon a highway in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania without a valid driver's license for the type or class of vehicle she was driving, failing to drive on the right half of the roadway, careless driving, and a violation of "restriction on alcoholic beverages," according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy. Brendan Alexander Kealey, 19, of Waterville, Pa. by Pennsylvania State Police for a crash at approximately 9:15 p.m. Sept. 14 on Route 6 in Columbia Township.
He is also charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana for personal use; a violation of "registration and certificate of title required;" a lane violation; careless driving; and not wearing a properly adjusted and fastened safety seat belt system, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy. He has a fast track waiver hearing scheduled for Dec. 19 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark of Towanda. Police said a lab reported showed Kealey's blood contained active components of marijuana.

Kyle Thomas Chaapel, 27, of Monroeton, by Pennsylvania State Police for a one-vehicle crash on Route 14 at the intersection with Roaring Run Road at approximately 1:20 a.m. Nov. 2 in South Creek Township.
He was also charged with a violation of "registration and certificate of title required," a violation of "stop signs and yield signs," a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed," and careless driving, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy. Police said a forensic analysis of Chaapel's blood revealed a blood-alcohol content of .186 percent.

Tonya Lynn Cummings, 46, of Canton, by Pennsylvania State Police for a one-vehicle crash at approximately 8:35 p.m. Sept. 12 on Baileys Corners Road in Granville Township.
She is also charged with driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, a lane violation, a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed," careless driving, accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, and failing to report a crash, where her vehicle was lodged in a high-tension electric fence and was damaged to the extent that it required towing, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy. Police said Cummings' blood-alcohol content was .224 percent.
