Man charged with simple assault in Burlington
A Burlington man faces charges of simple assault and harrassment following an incident that occurred on Dec. 25 at a residence in Burlington Borough.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Johnathan William Card, 25, was involved in a fight with the victim's boyfriend. Following the fight, Card engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim's boyfriend, which became physical when Card pushed the victim, causing her to fall and suffer an abrasion on her left ankle.
Card was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 1.
Troy man found in possession of drug paraphernalia
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, on Dec. 18, Dale Arthur Burnett, 63, entered the Bradford County Courthouse in Towanda. Upon undergoing security scanning, it was discovered that Burnett had a metal object in his boot, which was revealed to be a smoking pipe with which Burnett said he smoked cocaine.
Burnett has been sent a summons to appear for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 11.
Towanda man fails to comply with Megan's Law requirements
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Shawn Ryan McKean, 29, reported to Towanda state police that he believed he was late in verifying his address in compliance with Megan's Law requirements because he did not receive a letter notifying him of the required time period to verify the information. Upon further questioning, McKean admitted that he did receive the letter and had forgotten to verify his address and did not have gas in his vehicle to report to the state police.
McKean was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Wilcox in lieu of $35,000 bail and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 7.
