Man fails to comply with Megan's Law requirements
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Duane Terrence Demellier, 34, of Wysox was charged with failure to comply with Megan's Law requirements after he did not verify his residence in the required three business days after moving out of his previous residence in October.
Demellier was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Wyalusing man faces DUI charges
A Wyalusing man has been charged with driving under the influence; driving under the influence at the highest rate of alcohol; failing to wear his seatbelt; careless driving and driving on the wrong side of the road following a traffic stop that occurred on Dec. 10 in Wyalusing Township.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton's office, Maynard Lewis Smith, 74, was observed by police driving his 2005 Dodge Ram on the wrong side of the road. When a traffic stop was performed, police noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Smith's person as well as red, glassy eyes. Smith was placed under arrest and transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda, where a blood test eventually revealed his blood alcohol content was 0.227 percent.
Smith has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 27.
Retail theft occurs in Wysox
A Towanda man was recently charged with retail theft following an incident that occurred on Dec. 2 at the K-Mart department store in Wysox.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton's office, James Arnold Taylor, 26, was observed by a store employee tearing items out of their packaging and attempting to leave the store without paying for them. When the employee confronted Taylor outside the store, Taylor fled on his dirt bike. Police later found the dirt bike behind the Bradford Towne Center and arrested Taylor when he returned to the area shortly after. Taylor then admitted to stealing the items.
Taylor has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 27.
