Wysox men face drug charges

Two Wysox men were charged with the use or possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia following an incident that occurred on Aug. 15 in North Towanda Township.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, Shawn Christopher Lewis, 36, had repeatedly texted another male that had been taken into custody for selling heroin, asking to meet, if "it's different," and how much. Police arranged to meet with Lewis using the male's cell phone. Police then made contact with Lewis and two other males, when Lewis eventually admitted that he was there to buy heroin. Upon searching the three men, police discovered a hypodermic needle in his pocket and a plastic spoon and a hypodermic needle in the pocket of 33-year-old Aaron Lee Vanderpool. The search of the third male was met with negative results.

Vanderpool and Lewis have been sent summons for preliminary hearings scheduled for March 11.

Man charged after failing to comply with Megan's Law requirements

Kevin Corey Jayne, 29, of New Albany was charged with failure to comply with the registration requirements of Megan's Law after police determined that he failed to appear at an approved registration site during a semi-annual verification from Jan. 3 to Jan. 12, according to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office.

Jayne was arraigned before District Judge Michael Shaw and a preliminary hearing has been rescheduled to Feb. 25.

Rome man charged with theft

A Rome man faces charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property following an incident that occurred on Jan. 9 at the Northern Tier Career Center in North Towanda.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, on the above date, Christopher Wilson, 20, returned tools that he had taken without permission while the career center was being remodeled after his mother had discovered the stolen tools, which included various wrenches, sockets and socket wrenches.

Wilson has been sent a summons for preliminary hearing scheduled for March 4.

Towanda man faces assault charges

A Towanda man has been charged with simple assault and harassment after police responded to a loud disturbance on Feb. 3 in Towanda.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark's office, police arrived at the scene and observed injuries on the female victim, who said she was assaulted by Mantee Williams, 48. The victim stated that Williams was verbally assaulting her and as she tried to close the door to her bedroom, his hand got caught in the door. Williams then rushed toward her and struck her six to seven times and threw a lamp at her.

Williams has been sent a summons for a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 18.

Terroristic threats occur in Monroe Township

State police investigated a case of terroristic threats on Jan. 20 after a 16-year-old male threatened to go to the BLaST School in Monroe Township and "shoot everyone" after his cell phone was taken away from him.

Police investigating theft

State police are investigating a case of theft that occurred sometime between Feb. 2 and Feb. 5 in North Towanda Township after an eight foot aluminum ramp was stolen from Bradco Supply Company.

Minor injuries reported after crash

Two people from Towanda suffered minor injuries after a three vehicle crash that occurred on Feb. 1 in North Towanda Township. According to state police, Scott Hudson, 48, was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon north on State Route 220 when he slid and crossed over the center line and struck a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz driven by a 22-year-old New York male. As a result, the 2011 Ford F-650 following behind the male struck his vehicle as well.

All persons were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash and Hudson and his passenger, Kelly Harvey, 24, were transported to Memorial Hospital in Towanda by Towanda EMS for minor injuries. Hudson was charged with crossing over the center line of traffic.

Criminal mischief occurs in Wysox

According to state police, unknown actor(s) caused damage to a Kabota RTV1100 vehicle belonging to M.R. Dirt sometime between Jan. 26 and Jan. 29 in Wysox Township.

Police investigating stolen money

According to state police, an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from a 61-year-old Towanda man on Jan. 20 in Towanda. The incident remains under investigation.

Berwick woman charged after crash

A Berwick woman was charged with driving at an unsafe speed following a one-vehicle crash that occurred on Feb. 5 in Davidson Township in Sullivan County.

According to Laporte state police, Ashlee Fenstermacher, 24, was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus south on State Route 42 when she left the roadway and went over a small embankment, causing the vehicle's undercarriage to strike the embankment.

Fenstermacher was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured.
