Woman faces hearing on drug charge

Tiffany Lynn Westbrook, 28, of Rome, faces a preliminary hearing at 2:30 p.m. today before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton of Wysox on a charge of possessing a small amount of marijuana for personal use for an incident that took place Jan. 30 on Burke Road in Wilmot Township, according to court papers.

The papers note that she is also charged with using, or possessing with the intent to use, drug paraphernalia, namely four hypodermic needles.

Also, she faces a charge for having one Clonazepam pill, labeled TEVA 832, in her tan leather purse, on the passenger side floorboards, between her legs, without a prescription.

Wheaton's office said she was sent a summons.

Drivers uninjured in two-car Windham crash

A vehicle operated by Zachary D. Jones, 27, of Sayre, struck a vehicle driven by Paul T. Blaasch, 40, of Rome, when both drivers were traveling on state Route 1049 Feb. 1 at about 3:51 p.m., according to police.

Police said Jones was traveling on a curve in the road when he struck Blaasch's vehicle.

Jones crossed into the opposite lane and pushed Blaasch's vehicle until both came to a stop, police said.

Both men were wearing seatbelts and uninjured, according to police.

Jones was cited with driving at an unsafe speed and warned about an expired inspection.

Sugar Run man uninjured after rolling truck

Matthew T. Adams, 28, of Sugar Run, crashed his 1998 Dodge Ram after losing control on a snow-covered Sugar Hill Road, police said.

After losing control, Adams headed down a ravine with the truck overturning at least once until coming to a stop, police said.

Police said Adams did not immediately notify police of the crash.

According to police, Adams was cited with failure to obey traffic lanes and failure to immediately notify the accident to police.

Adams was given two warning for other vehicle violations, police said.

Valves stolen from Wyalusing High School

Five Sloan Flush valves were stolen from Wyalusing Valley Junior-Senior High School between Jan. 12 and Feb. 13, according to police.

The valves were stolen from a room in the high school, police said.

Rome man charged after driving into home

Michael Allyn Harrington, 33, of Rome, was charged with reckless endangerment after intentionally driving his truck into a residence while four people were inside on Feb. 6, police said.

According to police, Harrington was driving an unregistered, uninsured, and uninspected vehicle on a DUI suspended license and was charged for those violations.

Harrington was also charged with damaging property, police said.

Harrington was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to Bradford County jail in lieu of $7,500 bail, police said.

Harrington's formal arraignment is scheduled for March 12.

One hurt in Stevens Township crash

Jessie R. Young, 24, of Towanda, was cited with driving at an unsafe speed after crashing into, and injuring, Alexander C. Zingher, 53, of Lawton.

On Feb. 3, Zingher had stopped to allow a Bobcat utility vehicle to cross state Route 467 in Stevens Township.

Young then hit the rear end of Zingher's truck with the front end of her truck.

Both vehicles left the roadway and stopped on the westbound shoulder of Route 467.

HOPS EMS transported Zingher to a medical facility for treatment of minor injuries.

Young was cited with driving at an unsafe speed.

Rome crash injures one

Jesse J. Marriott, 31, of Gillet, suffered minor injuries after crashing his 1992 Dodge Ram 2500, according to police.

Emergency medical services were not needed after Marriott lost control while driving downhill on a snow-covered, right-hand curve on Parker Road, where he struck a tree, at about 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 20, police said.

Police said Marriott was wearing his seatbelt.

Marriott was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road, police said.

Minor crash in Windham

Garrett J Sims, 24, of Towanda, was uninjured after crashing his 2010 Ford Fusion into a ditch after sliding off the road, Sunday.

At about 2:20 p.m., Sims was traveling north on U.S. Route 187 when his vehicle slid off the east side of the road into a ditch.

Sims was cited with failing to obey traffic lanes.

Wilmont man charged with harassment

Darrin Lee Steele, 41, of Wilmont Township was charged with harassment after a domestic dispute turned physical, police said.

Police responded to the dispute at about 6:55 p.m. on Feb. 2.

Accident occurs in Towanda Twp.

No one was injured in a recent motor vehicle accident on South Main Street in Towanda Township, police said.

The accident occurred as 60-year-old Douglas A. Newton of Wyalusing was traveling south on South Main Street, police said.

As Newton was trying to make a left turn onto Liberty Corners Road, he realized that he had turned before the road, police said.

Newton's vehicle came back into the southbound lane, and as it did, it was struck in its passenger side door by a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, police said. The Dodge Grand Caravan was operated by a 17-year-old male from Sugar Run, police said.

The accident occurred at 7:49 p.m. on Feb. 24, state police at Towanda said.

Wysox man victim of access device fraud

A 46-year-old man whose address is River Road, Wysox, was recently the victim of access device fraud, police said.

His credit card was used at an unknown location between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Jan. 30, police said.

The victim reported that when he checked his credit statement, he noticed that a total of $199 had been taken out of his account, according to the state police.

Warrant leads to additional charges

On Jan. 30, Pennsylvania State Troopers reported the arrest of 37-year-old Kevin K. Kinsman of Burlington, as a result of a warrant.

Troopers found Kinsman in his vehicle on Burke Road in Wilmot Township and was immediately placed into custody. Upon searching his person, he was found to be in possession of three hypodermic needles and a metal spoon with burnt residue on it. A passenger with Kinsman in the vehicle gave a statement to officers indicating that witnessed Kinsman had used purported "bath salts" at a residence in Camptown, just prior to driving the vehicle.

A more thorough search of the vehicle produced four more hypodermic needles, located in the center console.

Kinsman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while his license was suspended or revoked. He is set to face these charges at the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas at a later date.

DUI in Standing Stone

Pennsylvania State Troopers reported the arrest of 23-year-old Abigail M. Ferguson of Wyalusing, for several charges related to driving while under the influence.

Troopers pulled over a vehicle, driven by Ferguson, after observing a non-functioning headlight. As she was speaking with the officer, he noted a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from her person.

She was then asked to perform the standard battery of field sobriety tests, which she failed to perform in a satisfactory matter.

She was therefore arrested and charged with: DUI: controlled substance, DUI: General impairment, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving, and ticketed for general lighting requirements. She will enter a plea to these charges at a preliminary hearing to be held on March 24 with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.

DUI arrest in North Towanda

On Dec. 7, Pennsylvania State Troopers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle driving erratically and missing a headlight on State Route 6 in North Towanda Township and found the driver to be 24-year-old, Jenna L. Hart of Nanticoke, Pa.

Upon confronting the driver, troopers found Hart to smell strongly of alcohol and noted her eyes to be "bloodshot and glassy." She was then asked to perform the standard battery of field sobriety tests, which she failed to perform to a satisfactory manner. A preliminary breathalyzer test also yielded a positive result for the presence of alcohol.

Hart was subsequently charged on Jan. 26, with DUI: General impairment, DUI: highest rate of alcohol, driving without a valid license, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving, and failure to comply with general lighting requirements. She will enter a plea to the charges at a preliminary hearing, set for March 13, with Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark.
