No one injured in Ulster two-car crash
On Feb. 19 at about 6:59 p.m., a 1992 GMC 3500 driven by Orind D. Dibble, 46, of Athens, containing one passenger, attempted to make a U-turn on Milan Road in Ulster when a 2012 Ford F150 driven by Lukas J. Foresman, 24, of Cogan Station, containing three passengers attempted to pass the GMC, police said.
The Ford then collided with the GMC, police said.
All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, police said.
Dibble was cited with making an illegal turn, police said.
Foresman was cited with improper passing.
Gillett man charged with simple assault, harassment
Robert Raymond Dryer Jr., 37, of Gillett, was charged with simple assault and harassment after an altercation with a 17-year-old male, police said.
According to police, Dryer caused injuries to the victim's face during a Feb. 22 altercation.
Elmira man charged with aggravated assault
Kyle S. Salyga, 25, of Elmira, was charged with aggravated assault after choking his girlfriend Dana Y. Kelsall, of Athens, police said.
According to police, Kelsall said Salyga got angry after her son spilled a drink.
When Kelsall told Salyga that she would address the spilled drink, an argue ensued, police said.
According to police, Salyga then placed his hands around Kelsall's neck and choked her in front of her son Kelsall said.
Police said once Salyga let Kelsall go, she called police and Salyga ran from the home.
Salyga was also charged with attempted simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment, police said.
Salyga was arraigned Feb. 26 by Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw with non-monetary bail.
Salyga is set to appear before Judge Shaw on June 9 for his preliminary hearing.
Fence struck
State police at Towanda said a fence was struck in a crash that occurred at 3 p.m. March 7 on McFadden Road in Canton Township.
Police said an unknown driver was traveling south and for an unknown reason, the driver's vehicle struck a fence on the northbound shoulder, with its front end area. The driver then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Police said it's unknown if the driver was injured.
Fraud reported
State police at Towanda said a unknown male contacted a 68-year-old Ulster woman at various times between Feb. 13-22 at her residence on Slater Hill Road, via the phone, and informed her that she had won several prizes, including a 2015 Bentley sports car and $3.5 million.
In order to claim the prizes, the woman was instructed to send money to several individuals in Miami, Fla., via Western Union and Money Gram. Police said she sent approximately $15,000.
Medication missing
State police at Towanda said Mary Hill, 66, of Troy, reported Feb. 1 that she was missing a bottle of prescription medication consisting of Oxycodone tablets from her residence on Lookout Road in Columbia Township.
Police said an investigation continues.
Person injured
State police at Towanda said a 17-year-old Gillett male had a moderate injury in a crash that took place at 5 p.m. Feb. 1 on Route 14 in South Creek Township.
Police said the driver was traveling northbound in a Honda Accord, lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered roadway and struck a utility pole along the east side of the roadway, with the front driver's side.
Corruption of minors reported
Travis Allen Wieand, 36, of Slatington, Pa., faces a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. March 25 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy on a charge of corruption of minors for an incident that took place between approximately 10 p.m. May 4 and 3 a.m. May 5, 2014 in Troy Borough, according to court papers.
According to an affidavit, police spoke with the victim, who was 14 years old at the time. She told police Wieand called her late at night and was talking to her. She said he made a comment concerning inappropriate contact and asked her to take pictures of an inappropriate nature. Police said Wieand denied making the comment about inappropriate contact. In addition, Wieand told police that he asked the 14-year-old to send pictures of her mom, not her.
