No one injured, cited in Smithfield crash
On March 2 at about 12:40 p.m., police said a 2006 Pontiac was stuck in a snow bank on Burlington Road in Smithfield.
The Pontiac was still on the northbound lane of the road when a 2002 Kia Sedona was heading north on the same road, police said.
The Kia was unable to navigate around the Pontiac and hit the Pontiac, police said.
According to police, the Kia sustained disabling damage.
Police said no one was cited as weather conditions were poor.
Endicott couple charged in Walmart theft
Michael Joseph Annesi Jr., 36, and Colleen Marie Annesi, 34, both of Endicott, were charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property on Feb. 25, police said.
Police said Michael Annesi walked out of the Elmira Street Walmart in Sayre without paying for a 42 inch LG TV, a TV remote, a Bluetooth headset, and peanut M&M's, a total value of $445.94.
After being detained by police, Michael Annesi was allowed to call Colleen Annesi, police said.
According to police, Colleen Annesi arrived at the patrol vehicle where Michael Annesi was being held without the shopping cart she was seen pushing.
Police said Colleen Annesi said she did not pay for the items in the shopping cart that she left at the outside entrance of the store.
According to police, after taking Michael Annesi to the Athens Township Police Department where Colleen Annesi met them, police received a fax from Walmart saying the merchandise Colleen Annesi had totaled $287.86 in value.
The couple have been sent summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on March 31 for their preliminary hearings.
Two charged in TV theft
Tyler A. Belles, 23, and Brittney Marie Stevens, 19, both of Athens, were charged with retail theft after stealing a TV from Walmart on Elmira Street in Sayre, police said.
According to police, Belles and Stevens were observed by Walmart's asset protection associate feigning scanning a 40 inch Phillips TV after taking the TV to the store's hardware section, where they removed the anti theft wire and alarm from the TV which was seen on video surveillance.
The Walmart employee reviewed the electronic records to see if Belles actually paid for the TV, but the records showed Belles did not actually scan the TV's UPC code, police said.
Police said the Walmart employee couldn't get to Belles in time to confront him, but managed to see the registration of the vehicle Belles was driving.
Police said Belles came to the Athens Township Police Department and told police he knew the TV wasn't paid for.
Police said Stevens denied any involvement in stealing the TV despite being shown pictures from the surveillance video.
Both Belles and Stevens were sent summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 14 for their preliminary hearings.
Hit and run in Tuscarora
Zachary Scott Smith, 22, of Nicholson, crashed his 2007 Mercury Mariner on state Route 6 in Tuscarora Township on Feb. 28 at about 8 a.m., police said.
According to police, Smith was heading west on Route 6 when he lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the south shoulder of the road.
Police said the vehicle struck several trees with the front end, which left disabling damage to the vehicle.
Smith fled the scene of the crash before police arrived, police said.
According to police, Smith has been cited with failure to notify police, driving at an unsafe speed, failure to obey traffic lanes, and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Nichols man charged in Walmart theft
Police said Cody James Welles, 22, of Nichols, was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.
On Feb. 28, Welles was seen leaving the Elmira Street Walmart in Sayre without paying for the merchandise in his cart, police said.
Walmart's Asset Protection Associate saw Welles filling reusable Walmart bags in his cart with merchandise, police said.
The employee then saw Welles walk out of the store and asked him to return the over 100 unpaid items, which totaled $753.96, police said.
Welles told police after he realized he did not have enough money to pay for all of the items he attempted to leave without paying, police said.
Welles has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on April 7 for his preliminary hearing.
Route 6 accident involved Texas man
Lee N. Justice, 46, of Cookville, Texas, crashed his 2010 GMC Sierra on March 1 at about 3:30 p.m., according to police.
Police said Justice was heading east on state Route 6 in Tuscarora Township when he lost control of his truck due to poor road conditions.
According to police, the truck struck an embankment, sustaining disabling damage.
Justice moved his truck from the roadway and left the scene before police arrived, police said.
According to police, Justice was unaware he needed to notify police of the crash.
It is unknown if Justice was injured, police said.
Fulmer's Towing assisted on scene, police said.
Police said Justice was cited with failure to obey traffic lanes.
