Purse stolen in North Towanda

Someone recently stole a purse from a vehicle that was parked in the Burger King parking lot along U.S. Route 6 in North Towanda Township, police said.

The purse belongs to 72-year-old Colleen Ann Calaman of New Albany, state police said.

The purse, which is described as a blue, over-the-shoulder purse, was stolen sometime between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on March 18, police said.

Vehicle strikes trees in Monroe Boro

Kym A. Strickland, 50, of Monroeton was uninjured in a recent motor vehicle accident on state Route 414 in Monroe Borough, police said.

The accident occurred when Strickland lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons as she was traveling east on Route 414, police said.

The vehicle went off the south side of the roadway and struck a mailbox and two trees, police said.

Strickland was cited for traveling at an unsafe speed, state police at Towanda said.

The accident occurred at 8:35 a.m. Friday, state police said.

Man charged with selling heroin in N. Towanda

Andrew M. Drake, 29, of Ashland, N.Y. is accused of selling $90 worth of heroin to an individual at a location in North Towanda Township, police said.

The sale of the heroin occurred on July 25, 2012, state police at Towanda said.

Drake was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, and possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Drake was arraigned by Athens Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on March 18, 2015, who set Drake's bail at $50,000.

Drake must attend a preliminary hearing today (March 25) in Towanda District Court.

Vehicle overturns in Monroe Boro

Elizabeth E. Kapler, 22, of Canton suffered minor injuries in an accident that occurred at 9:30 a.m. Saturday on state Route 414 in Monroe Borough, police said.

Kapler was driving east on Route 414 when she lost control of her vehicle on the wet, slushy roadway while negotiating a left-hand curve, police said.

The vehicle traveled off the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned, state police at Towanda said.

Two passengers in the vehicle - a one-year-old girl and a baby boy - were uninjured, police said.

Two injured in Ulster crash

State police said the driver of a 2012 Jeep Patriot and a passenger in a 2007 Nissan Titan were transported to Robert Packer Hospital after the Nissan failed to stop and hit the Jeep.

According to police, Kaitlyn E. Wright, 23, of Monroeton, was heading south on U.S. Route 220 in Ulster on March 13 when she stopped to turn left onto a pull off.

Christopher E. Blanton, 30, of Sayre, was behind Wright in his Nissan and failed to stop, striking the Jeep in the rear portion, police said.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed by Sutton's Towing, police said.

Wright and Blanton's passenger, Brianna A. Farr, 23, of Johnson City, were taken to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, police said.

Write, Blanton, and Farr were wearing seatbelts, police said.

Blanton was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, police said.

Paintballs shot at vehicle in Litchfield

State police said George Seeley, 63, of Sayre, reported somebody shot his vehicle with paintballs on March 15, between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Sheshequin crash injures two

According to state police, Lisa Jo Hoffman, 47, of Ulster struck the rear driver's side of a 2000 Jeep Cherokee driven by Amy Kaczar, 43, of Sugar Run, with her 2010 Dodge Ram 1500.

The accident happened on March 16 on Sheshequin Road in Sheshequin Township, police said.

According to police, Kaczar was stopped on the road while delivering mail at about 3:48 p.m. when Hoffman struck the Jeep.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and suffered minor injuries, police said.

Jack Williams Towing and Shelby's Towing removed both vehicles, which sustained disabling damage, from the scene, police said.

Hoffman was cited with overtaking a vehicle on the left and Kaczar was cited for operating a vehicle without inspection.

Ridgebury woman victim of credit card fraud

State police said a Ridgebury woman's credit card information was used to make several purchases without her consent between March 16 and 19.

DUI

The following person was recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Brian Fulda, 52, of Towanda, by the state police, on March 6, on U.S. Route 6 in North Towanda Township.
