Barnesville man charged with public drunkenness, resisting arrest

Athens Township Police filed several charges against Wayne Edward Sitzer, 35, of Barnesville, Pa., following a series of events at about 7:28 p.m. on April 18, Athens police said.

According to police, an employee of Fine Wine and Good Spirits on Elmira Street in Sayre called police after Sitzer refused to leave the store.

Police said Sitzer left the store on a bike and he was found walking near Callear's BBQ.

After police recognized Sitzer as being intoxicated and attempted to put him in custody, Sitzer began resisting, police said.

After gaining control of Sitzer, police then found Sitzer's red back pack and mountain bike near Comfort Inn and Suites, police said.

Sitzer refused to submit to a blood test and became aggressive while at the police department, police said.

Police deployed a taser on Sitzer in order to get him into a holding cell as he resisted being placed in the cell, police said.

Sitzer will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on May 5 for his preliminary hearing.

Wysox man charged with DUI

Towanda state police said Steven Wayne Johnson, 42, of Wysox, was charged with DUI on March 13 at about 11:15 a.m., police said.

According to police, Johnson struck a parked vehicle at the Dandy Mini Mart in Rome while trying to negotiate a turn in the parking lot.

Police said Johnson was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs.

Tools, chainsaw stolen from Laceyville home

According to Towanda state police, between April 4 and April 5, an unknown actor or actors gained unlawful access to a Spring Hill Road property.

Police said while on the property, the actor or actors stole a chainsaw and two boxes of tools.

Wyalusing man charged with DUI after sleeping in truck

Daryl J. Dieffenbach, 42, of Wyalusing, was charged with DUI by Towanda state police on April 19 at about 5:28 a.m., police said.

According to police, Dieffenbach was seen sleeping behind the wheel of his truck on U.S. Route 220 in Monroe Township.

Man charged with attempted burglary in Towanda

Brandon Philip Ropraz, 19, of Towanda is accused of recently trying to burglarize Strickland Beverage at 611 Main St., Towanda, police said.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. on April 9, Ropraz moved wooden pallets that were in front of a door at the rear of the business and then tried unsuccessfully to enter the business, police said.

Video surveillance cameras showed Ropraz casing the business on two separate occasions earlier on April 9, police said.

Ropraz was charged with attempted burglary and loitering and prowling at nighttime, Towanda police said.

Ropraz was arrested on April 10 and then arraigned by Wysox Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.

Ropraz was sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Ropraz must attend a preliminary hearing in Towanda District Court today (April 22).
