Waverly police investigating park vandalism
Waverly village police continue to investigate damage to two village parks that occurred over the weekend.
According to information from the Waverly Police Department, vandals kicked in doors to the pavilion at East Waverly Park and damaged cabinets inside. Damage was also done to the gazebo at Muldoon Park, police said, and vandals ripped off electric housing covers at the park.

Forgery charge
A Waverly man was recently arrested by Sayre Borough police on a charge of forgery.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Jeremy Doane, 23, was also charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Police said Doane stole five checks from a borough resident and wrote one out to himself for $200.
Doane was arraigned July 23 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Doane's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 30.
Disorderly conduct
A Muncy, Pa. man was recently arrested by Athens Township police on a charge of disorderly conduct.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Michael J. Jackson, 27, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Jackson refused to leave an Elmira Street hotel July 25 after being asked to several times. Jackson was found to be in possession of rolling papers, an alcohol swab, aluminum foil and a package that had contained bath salts, police said.
Jackson was arraigned July 25 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail. Jackson's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 30.
Waverly woman arrested
A Waverly woman was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on two counts of failure to confine a dog.
According to information from the sheriff's office, Lisa A. Yannarilli-Peake, 44, was charged following an incident in which two unconfined dogs killed a kitten. Yannarilli-Peake was issued a ticket to appear Aug. 6 in Barton town court.
License plate stolen
State police at Towanda are investigating the theft of a registration plate from a vehicle in Ridgebury Township.
According to information from state police, an unknown actor removed the plate from a vehicle on Berwick Turnpike between July 10 and 11. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.
Vehicle vandalized
State police at Towanda are investigating vandalism on a vehicle in Wyalusing Township.
According to state police information, an unknown actor vandalized a 2011 Honda Ridgeline parked at a Tuttle Lane location July 14. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.
Theft reported
State police are investigating a recent theft that occurred in Herrick Township.
According to information from state police at Towanda, Tori Chapman, 20, address unknown, is accused of riding along with two males selling meat products door-to-door in the Twin Cuts Road area. Police said Chapman went into a resident's vehicle and removed her purse while the men were inside the residence July 19. The victim witnessed the crime, police said.
Police located the vehicle a short time later and plan to file charges in district court, police said.
Police investigate burglary
State police at Towanda are investigating the theft of several tools from a Windham Township work site.
According to state police information, unknown actors broke into a tool trailer at a bridge work site off state Route 187 and removed a circular saw, angle grinder and two concrete cutoff saws. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.
Police investigate MVA
State police at Towanda recently investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident in Tuscarora Township.
According to information from state police, a 2004 Subaru Forester operated by Leeann Mattern, 20, of Laceyville, was traveling south on Cowpath Road at about 5:30 p.m. July 20 when it spun out and struck a culvert. Police said the vehicle then spun and rolled onto its drivers side. Mattern suffered small cuts on her arm, police said.
Police charged Mattern with speeding, police said.
Driver charged with speeding following crash
State police recently investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident in Sheshequin Township.
According to information from state police at Towanda, a 2005 Nissan Maxima operated by Alicia C. Prunier, 23, of Elmira, N.Y., was traveling northbound on Sheshequin Road when it traveled over the center line and crashed into a guardrail at about 5:10 p.m. July 13. The vehicle then spun 180 degrees and crashed into the same guardrail, then a wooden fence, police said.
Prunier and a passenger, Morgan B. Leach, 23, of Elmira, suffered minor injuries, police said. Another passenger, 23-year-old Brittney Prunier of Elmira, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre by Memorial Hospital EMS, according to police.
Police charged Prunier with speeding, according to police.
Athens woman charged
An Athens woman was recently charged with possession of a controlled substance by Athens Township police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Tiffany Lee Rose, 24, was also charged with three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Rose was found to be in possession of methadone pills not prescribed to her, a metal spoon, needles, baggies and other drug paraphernalia while being taken into custody June 7 on an arrest warrant out of the Athens Township Police Department.
Rose's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 3.
Retail theft charge
A Sayre woman was recently charged with retail theft by Athens Township police.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Janet Marie Cobb, 26, was also charged with receiving stolen property.
Police said Cobb is accused of returning a tent stolen by a male accomplice to the Walmart store on Elmira Street and receiving a $206.67 gift card in exchange for the item.
Cobb's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 3.
Sayre man arrested for assault
A Sayre man was recently arrested by borough police on a charge of simple assault.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, William J. Fenton, 38, was also charged with harassment and disorderly conduct.
Police said Fenton punched and kicked a female victim and yelled obscenities at her during a July 25 altercation at a Layton Street residence.
Fenton was arraigned July 30 and released from the Bradford County Jail on non-monetary bail. Fenton's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 6.
DUI Charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Rachel Ferrara, 22, of Sugar Run, by state police, on July 31, on Sharps Pond Road in Windham Township.
According to police, Ferrara wrecked a 2000 Volvo S80 and is suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Ferrara was taken into custody and transported to Tyler Hospital for a chemical blood test.
Samuel Melgar-Diaz, 43, of Wysox, by the Towanda police, on July 18, on Main Street in Towanda. Melgar-Diaz' blood alcohol content was .155 percent on the day of his arrest.
Mailboxes damaged in Tuscarora Twp.
Three Laceyville residents and a Wyalusing citizen have reportedly fallen victim to vandalism as their mailboxes were damaged sometime between June 21 and June 24.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call state police at (570) 265-2186. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information that results in an arrest.
Beer bottle thrown through window in Stevens Twp.
According to state police, on July 7 an unknown person threw a beer bottle through the window of a 79-year-old's residence along State Route 706 in Stevens Township.
Window damaged at Tuscarora Wayne Insurance
Between the dates of May 22 and May 23, an unknown person damaged a window at the Tuscarora Wayne Insurance Company on Fifth Street in Wyalusing Borough.
No injuries in two car crash
Tara L. Repsher, 30, of Rome was charged with a traffic violation for her role in a two car accident on State Route 187 in Rome Borough.
According to police, Repsher was traveling north on State Route 187 in a 2012 Ford Expedition when she crossed the center yellow line and into the path of a 2011 Ford F-250 driven by Timothy J. Gallagher, 23, of Sayre. Gallagher attempted to swerve and miss Repsher, but the vehicles side swiped as they passed each other, police said.
After contact, Repsher's vehicle continued off the road and struck a utility pole, according to police.
Juveniles charged for car theft
Three juveniles have been charged following a car theft that occurred sometime between 12:01 a.m. and noon July 22 on Southside Road in Canton, said state police at Towanda.
Police said a 15-year-old male juvenile, a 16-year-old female juvenile, and a 15-year-old female juvenile were charged with theft of a motor vehicle, a felony of the third degree, and a violation of "drivers required to be licensed."
Two of the juveniles were charged with burglary, a felony of the first degree, said police.
Police said that the victim stated that her 2010 beige Chevrolet Impala, which was locked, was taken without her consent. It was recovered around noon on Southside Road, about one mile east of the victim's residence, on July 22.
According to police, the three juveniles took the vehicle and drove in and around the Bradford County area. None of them were licensed.
Excavator stolen
State police at Towanda said they are investigating the theft of a 2008 Caterpillar Excavator Model 307C belonging to Austin Excavating of Waverly, N.Y. sometime between June 6, 2012 and July 2, 2013 in Springfield Township.

Towanda woman charged with possession of drug paraphernalia
Melissa Diane Ackley, 25, of Towanda was recently charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
The charge was filed after a probation officer found plastic tube smoking devices, hypodermic needles, and other drug paraphernalia in her bedroom closet and purse, police said.
The drug paraphernalia was found on July 11, state police at Towanda said.
Towanda man accused of selling drug
Jack Tyler Williams, 21, of Towanda and another defendant are accused of selling 10 Oxycodone pills to a third individual in the Colonial Plaza parking lot in North Towanda Township, police said.
As a result of this incident, Williams, who is also known as Jack Tyler Maloney, was charged with conspiracy to possess Oxycodone with intent to deliver, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal use of a communication facility, police said.
The sale of the drug occurred on Dec. 11, state police at Towanda said.
The charges were filed Monday in Towanda District Court.
Williams was arraigned by Towanda Magisterial District Justice Timothy Clark on Monday. Williams was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Towanda man charged with aggravated assault
John Thomas Parker Sr. of Towanda is accused of swinging a large metal pipe and at the same time threatening to kill people with it, police said.
One of the people Parker threatened to kill was his daughter, Wendy Sue Garner, police said.
The incident occurred Sunday along Railroad Street in Towanda Township, state police said.
After being taken into custody, the 55-year-old Parker kicked a state trooper at Memorial Hospital in Towanda, police said.
Parker was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, stalking, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment, state police at Towanda said.
Parker was arraigned on Sunday by Troy Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox, Parker was then sent to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $85,000 bail.
Parker must attend a preliminary hearing on Wednesday in Towanda District Court.
