Waverly man facing sexual charges
Waverly police charged Zachary A. Penrose, 25, of Waverly, with felony sexual abuse in the 1st degree, felony criminal sexual act, and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child on May 31, Waverly police said.
Penrose was arrested following a police investigation into a report of the sexual abuse of a child that was reported to law enforcement officials on May 30, police said.
Penrose is accused of having sexual contact in December 2014 and then again in May with an 11-year-old female victim.
Penrose was arraigned in the Village of Waverly Justice Court May 30.
Penrose was remanded to the Tioga County NY Jail on $15,000.00 cash bail.
Athens man charged with simple assault, harassment
Joseph A. Arcesi, 79, of Athens, was charged with simple assault and harassment by physical contact by Athens Township Police following a domestic disturbance on June 1, according to Athens police.
Police responded to a residence on Eaglewood Drive after receiving a call about an assault, police said.
Upon arrival, police interviewed the victim outside the residence and she told police her husband, Arcesi, was out drinking during the day and the pair got into an argument about his drinking.
The victim told police Arcesi "chases" her when they argue, but she always has been able to get away from him, police said.
But the victim told police Arcesi caught her and subsequently hit her face; left bruises on her arms after grabbing her; threw her to the ground then kicked her and stomped her while she was down, police said.
Police observed bruises, redness, and scratches on the victim's arms, face, and legs from Arcesi's assault, police said.
Arcesi was remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Arcesi will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on June 9 for his preliminary hearing.
