Waverly woman facing drug charges

Nicole Ann Searles, 34, of Waverly has been charged with several drug related charges by Towanda state police on Jan. 14 at the ALDI grocery store on Elmira Street in Sayre, state police said.

According to police, Searles is facing two counts of possession with the intent to deliver and delivery of a controlled substance; two counts of possession of a controlled substance; and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

On that date, police were notified by a confidential informant that Searles had bath salts for sale and that Searles could meet the informant in the Valley, police said.

Police told the informant to ask for 3 grams of bath salts and Searles said it would cost $300.

The informant got $300 from police along with a small video camera and while with police the informant got a phone call from Searles saying she was at ALDI, police said,

The informant met Searles in the ALDI parking lot and gave her $200 for the drugs before Searles entered the store, police said.

Searles exited the store, went to a silver Chevrolet Impala, and waved the informant over to the vehicle, police said.

The informant left the parking lot and met with police where the informant turned over two Adderall capsules and a pill bottle containing a plastic baggie of suspected bath salts, police said.

The informant told police Searles said the Adderall was free and the bath salts were only $200, police said.

Police said the drugs field tested negative for bath salts, but after a lab analysis one of the drug items tested positive for amphetamine.

Searles was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Searles has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on July 14 for her preliminary hearing.

Driver injured in Ulster crash

Brock N. Hite, 26, of Canton, suffered moderate injuries following a crash on June 30 at about 1:20 a.m. on U.S. Route 220 in Ulster Township, Towanda state police said.

According to police, Hite was heading north on Route 220 in a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier when he lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle crossed the road and hit a ditch with its front end, police said.

After rolling over, the vehicle came to a rest, police said.

Hite was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.

Police cited Hite for driving at an unsafe speed.

Litchfield attempted burglary under investigation

Towanda state police are investigating an attempted burglary in Litchfield Township that took place between June 19 and June 22, state police said.

Police said the actor or actors attempted to enter a residence by forcing a bathroom window open.

When the actor or actors were unable to enter the residence they fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Man cited for harassment in Sheshequin

A 59-year-old man has been cited for harassment following a June 25 incident that took place on Valley View Road in Sheshequin Township, according to Towanda state police.

Police said the accused got into a verbal argument with the 25-year-old female victim over a paycheck and the accused became upset and pushed the victim.

Harassment charges for Towanda man

Towanda state police said a 53-year-old Towanda man was charged with one count of harassment after punching a 33-year-old woman in the face on June 26 at about 10 a.m.

Police said the incident took place at Hornbrook Trailer Park in Sheshequin Township.

Man injured

State police at Towanda said Evan W. Brown, 22, of Canton, was moderately injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 8:31 a.m. June 27 on Route 414 in LeRoy Township.

Police said he was traveling east on Route 414, just east of VanFleet Road. While negotiating a left curve, he lost control of his Chevrolet Cobalt, which crossed over the westbound lane of travel and struck a ditch along the eastbound lane of travel, police said.

According to police, it continued traveling east and spun out in the wet grass, struck another ditch and then rolled over. Police said it came to final rest in the ditch, alongside the eastbound roadside, on its roof and facing west. Police said he was partially ejected from the vehicle and was freed by non-mechanical means.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Junior's Towing, and the Canton Volunteer Fire Department and EMS assisted at the scene, police said.

Police said he was charged with a violation of "roadways laned for traffic."

No injuries

State police at Towanda said Roy M. Richardson, 22, of Columbia Cross Roads, was not injured in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 4:20 a.m. June 12 on Hall Road, 100 feet north of State Route 4014, in Springfield Township.

According to police, he was traveling south, when his Ford F350 went off the west side of the dirt roadway and struck a set of mailbox posts to the right of the roadway on Hall Road. According to police, he fled the scene and was later located in the vehicle along Route 14 in Troy Township, where he was taken into custody for DUI. Police said he has been charged separately for both incidents.

Police said he was charged for a violation of "driving vehicle at safe speed."

Person injured

State police at Towanda said Jamie M. Quick, 20, of Troy, was moderately injured in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 11:30 p.m. June 10 on Porter Road, three-tenths of a mile east of Ballard Hill Road, in Columbia Township.

According to police, she was traveling east, when a deer entered the roadway. Her Ford Focus struck the deer in the roadway, and came to final rest facing east on the northside berm, police said.

Crash reported

State police at Towanda said a crash took place at 8:40 a.m. June 12 on Elmira Street in Troy Borough.

Police did not identify the drivers. According to police, the vehicles involved in the crash were a Ford and a Nissan.

Police said the driver of the Ford was traveling north on Route 14, and the driver of the Nissan was stopped in the southbound lane, with the vehicle's left turn signal on. As the Ford was passing the Nissan, the Ford's left mirror clipped the Nissan's left mirror. Police said the driver of the Ford was charged with a violation of "driving on roadways laned for traffic."
