Sayre man injured in crash

State police at Towanda said a driver was recently injured in a one-vehicle crash on Centerville Road in Ridgebury Township.

Donald N. Morgan, 58, of Sayre, 58, was heading west in a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado truck on June 27 at about 10:50 a.m. and lost control while on a left downhill curve, police said.

The vehicle struck a tree on the westbound shoulder with the truck's bed and then struck another tree with its front end, police said.

The truck came to rest with its front and rear panel against two trees on the westbound shoulder, police said.

Morgan was wearing his seatbelt during the crash but suffered moderate injuries, police said.

Police said Morgan was taken to Robert Packer Hospital.

Morgan was cited for failure to obey traffic lanes, police said.

Towanda man, woman facing harassment charges

A 51-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, both of Towanda, have been charged with harassment by Towanda state police following a June 29 incident in Sheshequin Township.

Police said they responded to a domestic dispute that became physical at about 8:30 a.m.

Felony sexual assault charges filed against Sayre man

Jeffrey Allen Woodruff, 33, of Sayre, was charged with two counts of statutory sexual assault, a first degree felony charge; two counts of aggravated indecent assault with the complainant being less than 16 years of age, a felony charge; and two counts of indecent assault with the complainant being less than 16 years of age, a misdemeanor charge by Sayre Borough Police following a July 1 incident, Sayre police said.

According to police, Woodruff was found in bed with an underage girl on that date.

The girl later told police she had had sexual contact with Woodruff between June 14 and July 1 at Woodruff's residence, police said.

Woodruff was remanded to Bradford County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Woodruff will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on July 7 for his preliminary hearing.

Sayre man charged with theft, receiving stolen property

Athens Township Police charged Kevin M. Alger, 43, of Sayre, with theft by unlawful taking or deception and receiving stolen property following a July 3 incident at the Elmira Street Walmart in Athens Township, Athens police said.

Police said they were notified by a person whose cooler was stolen from the bed of his truck while parked at Walmart.

Police reviewed security footage from the store and saw a truck parked next to the victim's truck, police said.

A male exited the store and entered the truck next to the victim's and began to pull out of the parking spot before pulling back in, grabbing the cooler from the victim's truck, then exiting the parking lot, police said.

The next day, the victim told police a truck of the same description was seen on Allison Street in Sayre Borough.

Police went to the Allison Street location and talked with Alger, who met the description of the male in the video, police said.

Alger was taken into custody and police recovered the cooler, which was subsequently identified by the victim, from the residence.

Alger posted $10,000 bail and has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on July 14 for his preliminary hearing.

State police seeking information on attempted burglary

Towanda state police said between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. on July 3, an unknown actor or actors attempted to gain entry into a Sheshequin Township residence.

Police said the actor or actors were unable to enter the residence.

Mildred woman charged with DUI

Valerie Michelle Land, 33, of Mildred has been charged with DUI, recklessly endangering another person, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, and several traffic violations, police said.

The charges stem from a June 5 incident in which Land was pulled over by the state police for driving at a high rate of speed on U.S. Route 220 in Laporte Township, police said.

Land exhibited signs of impairment during the traffic stop, and a 4-month old male in her vehicle was found unsecured in a child safety seat in the rear seat of the vehicle, police said. Also in the vehicle was an 8-year-old boy, police said.

Winery burglarized in Colley Township

State police said they are trying to determine who recently burglarized several different structures at the Lopez Winery on state Route 487 in Colley Township, Sullivan County.

Stolen from the structures were brass key blanks, furnace motors, stainless steel, and other metal items, state police said.

The burglary occurred sometime between 9 a.m. on June 2 and 4 p.m. on June 18, state police said.

Car vandalized in Dushore

Someone entered a Saturn car when it was parked in Dushore and vandalized the driver seat, police said.

The car is owned by Paula Larrabee of Dushore, police said.

The vandalism occurred sometime between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on June 28, when the car was parked in a parking lot at 205 Boxer Drive in Dushore, police said.

Accident occurs in Wysox Township

Duane E. Colter, 51, of Monroeton was uninjured in a motor vehicle accident in Wysox Township, police said.

Colter was driving north on state Route 187 at 12:05 a.m. on June 13 when he lost control of his vehicle, police said.

Colter's 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier went off the roadway and struck a tree, state police at Towanda said.

The accident occurred just south of Claverack Road, police said.

Colter was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, police said.

Car vandalized in Wysox Twp.

Someone used a rock to break the windshield, rear window and taillights of a vehicle that was parked at a Dandy Mini Mart in Wysox Township, police said.

The vehicle belongs to a 17-year-old female, police said.

The vandalism occurred between 7 p.m. on June 20 and 2:15 a.m. on June 21, state police said.
