Towanda teen victim of theft

Someone stole two lug nuts on a passenger side front tire of a vehicle operated by 19-year-old Haley Edsell of Towanda, police said. A third lug nut had been loosened, state police said.

Edsell discovered the theft after she found there was an obvious malfunction in her vehicle's steering at 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 7 on James Monroe Avenue in Monroe Borough, police said.

Two charged with theft in Wysox Twp.

James Taylor, 27, of Monroeton and a 15-year-old male from Towanda are accused of stealing approximately 15 steel railroad tie plates from an area of the railroad tracks near Shiner Road in Wysox Township, police said.

After taking the items, the duo cashed the plates in for money at Towanda Iron & Metal in Towanda, police said.

Taylor and the 15-year-old male were both charged with theft by unlawful taking, state police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on July 28, police said.

Warren Center man charged with theft

Jonas S. Mast, 23, of Warren Center is accused of renting a Heatstar HS75KT heater from Best Line Equipment for one week, and never returning it, police said.

The rental of the heater occurred in November 2014, police said.

As a result of this incident, Mast has been charged with receiving stolen property and theft of leased property, police said.

Best Line Equipment had sent certified letters to Mast to try to get him to return the heater, police said.

Mast has been sent a summons which orders him to appear for a preliminary hearing on the charges on Sept. 9 in Towanda District Court.

Burglary in Towanda Twp.

State police are investigating the report of a burglary that occurred sometime in the month of March at a residence on State Route 220 in Towanda Township.

According to police, an unknown person cut the screen door of a residence before going inside and stealing a jewelry box containing a wedding band and two necklaces.

Mailboxes damaged in Wyalusing Twp.

State police are investigating a report of criminal mischief that occurred during the early hours of Aug. 13 on Sterling Hill Road in Wyalusing Township.

According to police, an unknown person damaged the mailboxes of Valerie Millard, 50; Rodney Millard, 77; and Douglas Brown, 64.

DUI charges

The following people were charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Stephanie Defelice, 18, of Canton, by the Canton Borough Police Department following a traffic stop at 2:02 a.m. July 20 on South Minnequa Avenue in Canton.

Defelice was also charged with DUI: Minors - First Offense, a summary violation of "driving on roadways laned for traffic," and summary careless driving, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

According to an affidavit, Defelice's blood-alcohol content was .038 percent.

An employee at Wilcox's office said Defelice faces a preliminary Sept. 11 in DUI Court before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark of Towanda.

Roy Matthew Richardson, 22, of Columbia Cross Roads, by Pennsylvania State Police following an incident at 4:50 a.m. June 12 on Route 14 in the area of Cummings Lumber in Troy Township.

Richardson was also charged with two counts of a violation of The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act: Prohibited Acts; Penalties; summary stopping, standing, and parking outside business and residence districts; and summary careless driving, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.

Trooper Albert Levanavage noted in an affidavit that he saw a pickup truck facing southwest, with half of the truck on the southbound lane of travel, with the front onto the west side roadway edge. He said the truck had heavy right front end damage, with both right side tires flat, and it was clear that it had been involved in a crash at another location. Richardson was observed behind the steering wheel, and was acting as if he were intoxicated.

Richardson's blood test showed that he had Alprazolam, Alpha-Hydroxyalprazolam and oxycodone in his system, while operating a motor vehicle, police said.

He faces a preliminary hearing in DUI Court Aug. 28.
