Sayre arrest leads to drug charges

Alexander William Joseph Arnold, 23, of Lawrenceville, was charged with drug possession and drug paraphernalia possession by Sayre Borough Police on June 25, according to Sayre police.

Police said they observed two males talking then walk in separate directions after seeing the patrol vehicle.

One male, later identified as Arnold, was stumbling while walking and appeared to be hiding something in his hand, police said.

Police said they saw Arnold drop four baggies containing white powder on the ground.

After arresting Arnold, police found a hypodermic needle, a metal spoon, two empty baggies with powder residue, and a pipe with burnt marijuana residue, police said,

The substance in the four baggies Arnold dropped tested positive for heroin, police said.

Arnold has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Sept. 22 for his preliminary hearing.

Sayre man charged with assault

Sayre Borough Police charged Tyler James Vanhousen, 22, of Sayre, with two counts of simple assault and two counts of harassment on July 31 after Vanhousen punched two individuals, according to Sayre police.

Police said the victims saw three individuals, one of which was yelling profanities, walking by one of the victim's residences.

The individuals later walked by again and the same person yelled at the victims, police said.

The individual, later identified as Vanhousen, approached the victims and began insulting them and demanded cigarettes, police said.

When the victim told Vanhousen "no," Vanhousen punched him in the face causing his nose to bleed, then turned to the other victim and punched him in the temple, knocking the victim's glasses off, police said.

Vanhousen's friend pulled him back and Vanhousen ran off after the victims said they would call police, police said.

Vanhousen has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Sept. 22 for his preliminary hearing.

Sexual assault in Windham Twp.

State police are investigating a report of sexual assault relating to a June 29 incident in Windham Township.

According to police, a 7-year-old male is suspected of sexually assaulting two males aged 7 years old and 5 years old.
