Monroeton man arrested on charges of theft
James Arnold Taylor, 27, of Monroeton has been charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, corruption of minors and criminal trespass relating to a July 28 incident at railroad tracks near Shiner Road in Wysox Township.
According to police, Taylor stole approximately 15 railroad tie plates and subsequently scrapped them at Towanda Iron and Metal.
Taylor committed the crime while with a juvenile male, police said.
Taylor has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton at 1 p.m. on Sept. 8 for a preliminary hearing.
Towanda man charged for lying to police
Derick C. Fabyan, 27, of Towanda has been charged with making false reports to law enforcement after police say he lied about being raped on Aug. 9 on Mix Avenue in Towanda Borough.
Megan's Law investigation
State police are investigating the report of a 33-year-old male from Laceyville failing to comply with registration requirements regarding the Megan's Law sex offender registration.
According to police, the report was received on Aug. 4 at the state police barracks in Towanda.
Man accused of kicking dog gets charged
Zakary R. Pentycofe, 21, of Lowman, N.Y. has been charged with cruelty to animals after police say he punched and kicked his dog on Aug. 11 at a property on Monkey Run Road in Ridgebury Township.
According to police, charges are currently pending through the courtroom of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox.
Weedwacker reported stolen
State police are investigating a report of theft relating to a stolen weedwacker, which was taken sometime between July 12 and July 13 from a property on Bumpville Road in Rome Township.
According to police, the lawn equipment belonged to Leon Wade Mosier, 51, of Ulster. The investigation continues, police said.
Hit-and-run accident occurs in Wysox Twp.
An unoccupied Chrysler Sebring was recently struck in the rear end by a hit-and-run driver when it was legally parked at the Tops supermarket in Wysox Township, police said.
The Chrysler Sebring is owned by Alice L. Krotzer of Towanda, police said.
The vehicle that struck the Chrysler was a silver-colored Jeep, which was occupied by two males, state police said.
The accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 9, state police at Towanda said.
Towanda woman charged with criminal trespass
Elizabeth Rae Benjamin, 29, of Towanda was recently charged with criminal trespass, police said.
The charge stems from an Aug. 12 incident in which Benjamin was allegedly on Catherine Short's property in Towanda Township, knowing that she was not allowed to be there, police said.
Short has full custody of the children of Benjamin and her son, and Benjamin is allowed to be on Catherine Short's property only during her supervised visits, state police said.
Towanda man charged with supplying alcohol to minor
Darwin Dario Pitty-Deleon of Towanda is accused of supplying beer on the night of July 22 to a 19-year-old female, police said.
Pitty-Deleon, 26, was charged with the third-degree misdemeanor of selling or furnishing liquor or malt or brewed beverages to a minor, police said.
State police at Towanda said they interviewed Pitty-Deleon and the female about the crime in the early morning hours of July 23 in a parking lot off State Street in Towanda.
Ulster man injured in crash
Riley J. Gorsline, 18, of Ulster, suffered minor injuries after crashing a Buick Century on James Street in Sheshequin Township on July 28 at about 9:33 p.m., Towanda state police said.
Gorsline was heading north along a left curve and traveled off the east side of the roadway, police said.
The Buick struck a tree after leaving the road, police said.
Gorsline was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, police said.
Police said Gorsline was taken to Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital for his injuries.
Gorsline was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, according to police.
BB gun found in Ridgebury Twp.
Towanda state police found a Daisy BB gun in a field on Thompson Hill Road in Ridgebury Township on Aug. 13, police said.
Anyone with information regarding the owner of the BB gun is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186 and reference incident number P05-0819255.
Gillett man charged with DUI
Wesley Richard Pellor, 21, of Gillett, was charged with driving under the influence by Towanda state police on Aug. 15 after striking an electronic flare that belonged to the Ridgebury Township Fire Company at a crash scene, police said.
Retail theft charge filed against Sayre man
Athens Township Police charged David Joseph Fassett with retail theft and drug paraphernalia possession on Aug. 18 after Fassett attempted to steal $232.01 worth of merchandise from the Elmira Street Walmart in Athens Township, Athens police said.
Fassett was charged after Walmart's asset protection associate witnessed him remove several items from their packaging and place them in his pockets before leaving the store through the garden section, police said.
When police searched Fassett, they found a hollowed out pen that had a strong odor of burnt marijuana, police said.
According to police, Fassett pleaded guilty to a retail theft charge in the past and was arrested on July 30 for retail theft at the Elmira Street K-Mart in Athens Township.
Fassett was remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Fassett will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Aug. 25 for his preliminary hearing.
DUI charges
The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Barbara Jane Powell, 52, of Wyalusing, by state police, on Aug. 1, on Route 6 near Goff Road in Standing Stone Township. Powell has also been charged with failing to stay in her lane, littering from a vehicle and careless driving. A blood test revealed on the day of her arrest Powell had a blood alcohol content of .244 percent. She has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 11 for a preliminary hearing.
Katlyn Theresa Fuller, 23, of Wysox, by the Towanda police, on June 13, on Main Street in Towanda. A blood test showed that Fuller's blood alcohol content was .258 percent on the day of her arrest.
