Athens man facing trespassing charge

Sayre Borough Police charged Matthew E. Chapman, 33, of Athens, with defiant trespassing and public drunkenness on Aug. 18 after Chapman was found in a residence in which he was not allowed, police said.

Police responded to the residence after receiving a report of an intoxicated male inside the residence and the victim told police Chapman was not allowed in the residence, police said.

Police said Chapman arrived at the residence, fell in the yard where he vomited on himself and the yard.

The victim told police she told Chapman to leave, but he refused, police said.

Upon arrival, police found Chapman asleep on a couch and took him into custody for trespassing, police said.

Chapman has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Sept. 22 for his preliminary hearing.

Missing person found

State police at Towanda said they investigated the report of a missing 15-year-old juvenile between approximately 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. Aug. 6 on Covered Bridge Road in Ulster Township, and the missing juvenile was subsequently located, after returning home on the same date.

Man charged with DUI

State police at Towanda said Phillip James Michael, 32, of Horseheads, N.Y. was found intoxicated by store employees at approximately 11:10 a.m. Aug. 6 at the Dandy Mini Mart on State Route 328 in Wells Township.

According to police, he exhibited several signs of intoxication and was subsequently placed in custody for driving while under the influence. He was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police said Michael was charged with driving while under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and careless driving through District Court 42-3-01.

Man injured

State police at Towanda said Eric S. Kjelgaard, 33, of Monroeton, had a minor injury in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 8:55 p.m. July 31 on Beech Flats Road in Canton Township.

Police said he was traveling north on his Harley-Davidson, swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway, and struck a ditch on the western side of the road.
