Police Briefs

Burglary occurs in Wysox Twp.

A burglary has occurred at Joshua John McGovern's residence at the intersection of U.S. Route 6 and Pennsylvania Avenue in Wysox Township, police said.

Someone entered McGovern's residence sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 and stole various items, including a man's watch, a necklace and coins from a change jar, state police said.

Package with sneakers stolen

State police at Towanda said they are investigating the theft of a United States Postal Service package containing blue and black Under Armour brand sneakers that was removed from the porch of Justin Porter, 18, of Columbia Township, at his residence on Austinville Road.

People injured

State police at Towanda said four people were injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred recently on Route 154 in Canton Township.

According to police, the driver, Lenora Smith, 48, of Shunk, had a moderate injury. A 15-year-old male passenger and a 3-year-old female passenger, both from Shunk, had minor injuries and a child, whose age was not provided, from Shunk, had a moderate injury, police said.

Police said Smith was traveling east in a Subaru Outback, just east of the intersection with Pine Swamp Road, and lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason. Police said it crossed over the westbound lane, left the roadway, and struck a tree, rendering it inoperable. It came to rest in contact with the tree, police said.

Police said all the people were transported by Western Alliance to either Robert Packer Hospital or Geisinger.

According to police, Smith was charged with a "driving on roadways laned" violation.

 

PFA violated

State police at Towanda said a 44-year-old Towanda resident sent a 34-year-old Canton resident a text message in violation of an active PFA order between the two parties at approximately 6:40 p.m. Aug. 17 on Cedar Ledge Lane in Canton Township.

Police said the Towanda resident was arrested, charged, and released Aug. 17 in District Court 42-3-04.

Police did not identify the people by name or gender.

 

Game camera taken

State police at Towanda said someone unknown removed a game camera belonging to Mark Coile, 36, of Canton, sometime between 5 p.m. Sept. 10 and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 13 on Route 14 in Canton Township, without authorization, and left apparently undetected.

Mailbox damaged

State police at Towanda said they are investigating an incident in which someone unknown damaged the mailbox of Heather M. Katona, 40, of Canton, sometime between approximately 3 p.m. Sept. 11 and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 12 on Brague Road in Canton Township.
