Man apprehended
State police at Mansfield said Mitchel R. Smith, 19, of Canton, was apprehended by Walmart Asset Protection Associates sometime between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Walmart on South Main Street in Mansfield, Richmond Township, Tioga County, Pa., while attempting to steal $96.87 worth of merchandise from the store.
Lockwood, N.Y. woman facing theft charge
Athens Township Police charged Bridget Michelle Meadows, 27, of Lockwood, N.Y., with retail theft on Sept. 18 after an incident at the Elmira Street Walmart in Athens, Athens police said.
Walmart's asset protection associate witnessed Meadows and a male suspect take 24 items, totaling $149.26, and attempt to leave the store without paying for them, police said.
The associate saw Meadows place baby formula in the bottom of a baby stroller, then place makeup wipes and skin cleanser in the stroller as well, police said.
Meadows covered the items with a blanket and paid for a few items at the register before being stopped while exiting the store, police said.
Meadows has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Oct. 20 for her preliminary hearing.
Theft charge for Athens woman
Linda Lee Parks, 48, of Athens, was charged with retail theft by Athens Township Police on Sept. 20 after being seen placing items in her purse at the Elmira Street Walmart in Athens and not paying for them, Athens police said.
A Walmart asset protection associate saw Parks and another woman select clothing items and place them in their purses before paying for one item and attempting to leave, police said.
The items Parks took totaled $89.35, according to police.
After conducting a record check, police found that Parks had at least one prior conviction of retail theft, police said.
Parks has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Oct. 20 for her preliminary hearing.
Sayre woman charged with simple assault, harassment
On Sept. 20, Sayre Borough Police charged 25-year-old Amanda L. Hendee, of Sayre, with attempted simple assault and harassment, strike, shove, kick, etc., Sayre police said.
Police responded to a Stedman Street residence for a domestic disturbance and found Hendee, the victim, and the caller, police said.
The caller told police Hendee and the victim were arguing when Hendee punched the victim in the face, police said.
The victim told police the argument was over money and when the victim told Hendee "leave me alone," she punched him in the face several times, police said.
Police observed a red mark and swelling under the victim's left eye, and the victim stated the injury was caused by Hendee.
Police said Hendee's knuckles on her right hand were red and that Hendee confirmed what the caller reported to police.
Hendee has been issued a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Oct. 20 for her preliminary hearing.
Kayak stolen in Laporte Twp.
A single-person, brown Pelican kayak was recently stolen from along Lake Makoma in Laporte Township, Sullivan County, police said.
The boat belongs to Leroy Bennett of Pennsdale, Pa., police said.
The theft occurred sometime between Sept. 1 and Sept. 20, near 159 East Shore Drive, state police said.

Mountain bikes stolen in Laporte Twp.
Several items were stolen from 279 East Shore Drive in Laporte Township, including an orange Specialized Stumpjumper mountain bike, a silver and black Jamis Dakota mountain bike, and a 24-foot aluminum extension ladder, police said.
The items belong to David Morehart of Cogan Station, Pa., police said.
The items were stolen sometime between July 24 and Aug. 14 from a storage area underneath a porch, state police said.
Also, someone entered the basement of the residence at 279 East Shore Drive Saturday evening, state police said. However, no items were reported damaged or missing as a result of the incident on Saturday evening.

One injured in Monroe Twp. crash
One passenger suffered a minor injury in a recent motor vehicle accident on Woodside Road in Monroe Township, police said.
The accident occurred when 20-year-old Scott A. Gray of Mildred, who was traveling west on Woodside Road, failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, which caused his vehicle to leave the north side of the roadway, police said.
Gray's 2001 Dodge Neon struck a guard rail and came to rest against several trees, state police at Towanda said.
A passenger in the vehicle, 19-year-old Mystick R. Wood of Mildred, suffered a minor injury, police said.
Gray and a baby girl, who was a passenger in the vehicle, were uninjured, state police said.
The accident occurred at 4:40 p.m. on Sept. 5, 328 feet south of township Route 402.
DUI charge
The following person was recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:
Jason Eric Garey, 40, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough Police on Sept. 20 on Pitney Street in South Waverly Borough. Garey was also charged with driving with a suspended license, DUI related; recklessly endangering another person; failure to use a turn signal; and driving on the wrong side of the roadway. Garey later submitted to a blood chemical test to determine the level of bath salts in his system, but numbers were not available in court documents. Gary was remanded to the Bradford County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. Garey will appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Sept. 29 for his preliminary hearing.
