Man charged with criminal trespass
A Towanda man was recently arrested by Sayre Borough Police on a charge of criminal trespass.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Jeffrey Charles Jackson II, 26, was also charged with attempted theft from a motor vehicle, loitering and prowling at night time, possessing a prohibited offensive weapon, possessing instruments of crime, public drunkenness and driving with a suspended license.
Police said Jackson broke into a shed at about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 28 on Center Street, then fled the scene in a Chevrolet sedan. Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. A search of Jackson turned up a large metal kitchen knife and a flashlight, and a black tire iron was found on the path he took to flee the residence.
Jackson told police he had been looking for someone that he claimed was at the residence, police said.
Witnesses also told police Jackson attempted to break into a car on Franklin Street, police said.
Jackson was arraigned Aug. 29 and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Jackson's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 17.
Retail theft charge
A Sayre man was recently arrested by borough police on a charge of retail theft.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Brandon W. Roberts, 28, was also charged with theft by deception and receiving stolen property.
Police said Roberts removed two cellular phone chargers from the Dandy Mini Mart on Spring Street Aug. 23, then had a relative return them for cash. The relative was unaware Roberts had stolen the chargers, police said. A total of $42.38 was refunded, police said.
Roberts' preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 8.
Waverly man arrested
A Waverly man was recently arrested by Tioga County, N.Y. sheriff's deputies on a charge of criminal obstruction of breathing.
According to information from the sheriff's office, Jeremy L. Stotler, 34, was arrested Sept. 2 following investigation into a domestic incident. Police said Stotler allegedly choked a female during the incident.
Stotler was issued a ticket to appear Sept. 10 in Barton town court.
Woman charged with theft
A Towanda woman was recently charged with theft by unlawful taking by Athens Borough police.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Melissa Vina Cordner, 23, was also charged with receiving stolen property.
Police said Cordner removed a cellular phone Aug. 23 from a South Main Street residence.
Cordner's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 8.
Disorderly conduct charge
A Sayre man was recently charged with disorderly conduct by Athens Township police.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Jon Raymond Watkins, 29, was also charged with public drunkenness.
Police said Watkins yelled and threatened to start a fight with individuals at about 9:15 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Tops supermarket on Elmira Street.
Watkins' preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 8.
