Man charged in Canton area heroin delivery
James Michael Wakefield, 35, of 425 N. Keystone Ave., Sayre, faces a preliminary hearing at 2:15 p.m. today on a charge of delivery of and possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.
Police said Wakefield conspired with two other people in delivering heroin to a Pennsylvania State Police confidential informant at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 6, 2012, at a parking lot along Route 14 in the Canton area. Wakefield is also charged with criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, and possession of a controlled substance.
Wilcox said that Wakefield's $10,000 bail was not posted, and he was placed in Bradford County Correctional Facility.
Man charged in Canton purse snatching
Gary Lynn Gerow, 25, of 360 E. Main St., Canton, faces a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. today on charges of robbery, theft, and receiving stolen property for taking a woman's purse at 6:45 p.m. May 14, on East Union Street in Canton, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.
According to an affidavit, Canton Police Officer Joshua Heckman spoke with the victim, Mary Lynch, no age or address given, who stated that she and another woman were walking home from the Canton Ecumenical Church on North Center Street, and after turning onto East Union Street, an unknown individual wearing a black hooded sweatshirt came up from behind them, grabbed her purse and ran west on East Union Street.
On May 26, Gerow came to the police department and stated that he heard that police were looking for him for questioning. Gerow provided the following written statement: "I, Gary Gerow, was walking with my girlfriend and she said, 'if you get me money for drugs, I will stay with you.' A lady walked behind me with her purse, and I turned around and took it out of her hands, and ran and then I went up to the tracks and a guy ran out, so I ran back down the hill and put the change purse in the burning barrel and went back with my girlfriend."
Wilcox said that Gerow's unsecure bail was set at $45,000.
Man charged in Troy theft
Travis Levi Ott, 36, of 198 Willow St., Apt. B1, Troy, has been charged with the theft of three aluminum rims, six brake drums, three pieces of piping and miscellaneous scrap metal worth $2,000 from Bristol Excavating, according to court papers filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox of Troy.
The incident took place around 7:44 p.m. June 9, at 167 Firehouse Ln., Troy Township, police said.
Ott has been charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, and faces a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. June 19 before Wilcox.
Police said the items belong to Kyle Alexander Bristol, no age or address given,
Ott was placed in Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $65,000 bail.
