PETERSBURG - City of Petersburg Sheriff, Vanessa R. Crawford extends to the citizens of Petersburg, an invitation to attend its monthly Triad S.A.L.T. Council meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road. The guest speaker will be Michael Duke, Gang Specialist with the Virginia Department of Corrections: Gang Management Unit.
Mr. Duke has years of training in the field of identifying and tracking gang activities. He will share with the council, information on Basic Gang Awareness. He will demonstrate some of the signs of gang involvement and how members show affiliation (identifiers) and ways to prevent involvement. As a member of the Gang Management Unit, Mr. Duke also serves on various gang task forces with other state and local law enforcement agencies.
The council will also have a new member from the Better Business Bureau, Jennifer Dobson who will share updates on the latest fraud and scams in the Tri-City area.
Triad S.A.L.T. Councils (Seniors And Law Enforcement Together) are busy year-round, building crime-fighting relationships between older citizens and their local law enforcement representatives. They are discovering new ways of enhancing the lives of those who have already given much to help their children and grandchildren grow and prosper.
