DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Kenneth W. Beers II, 36, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on Oct. 26, on South Keystone Avenue in Sayre. Beers has also been charged with careless driving and failure to keep right. A blood alcohol test revealed that Beers' blood alcohol content was .25 percent on the day of his arrest. Beers has been sent a summons to appear Dec. 17 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Man charged with assault

An Athens man was recently arrested by borough police on a charge of simple assault.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, John Allen Streeter, 53, was also charged with harassment.

Police said Streeter placed his hands around the neck of a female victim and shoved her during a Nov. 16 domestic incident at his River Street residence.

Streeter was arraigned Nov. 16 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $15,000 unsecured bail. Streeter's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26.

Two charged with retail theft

Two women were recently arrested by Athens Township police and charged with retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Candi Rose Bellis, 27, of Nichols, N.Y., and Lee Ann Keenon, 43, of Paoli, Okla., are accused of attempting to remove $497.09 in merchandise from the Walmart store on Elmira Street at about 2:20 p.m. Nov. 17.

Bellis and Keenon were each arraigned Nov. 17 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail apiece. Both are scheduled to appear Nov. 26 at preliminary hearings.

Athens man arrested

An Athens man was recently incarcerated by borough police on a charge of aggravated assault.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Ryan Nathaniel Smith, 20, was also charged with terroristic threats, harassment and consumption of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.

Police said Smith choked and threatened to kill a male victim during a physical altercation Nov. 17 at a South Main Street residence.

Smith was arraigned Nov. 18 by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $55,000 bail. Smith's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26.
