Man charged in Terry Twp. beating
Thomas John Zawistowski, 30, of Wyalusing has been charged with simple assault and harassment relating to a Nov. 16 incident on Scrib Meadow Road in Terry Township.
According to police, Zawistowski was involved in a verbal argument that turned physical with a female victim.
Police said Zawistowski kicked the woman in the stomach, held her down while choking her and struck her in the face.
When police arrived on scene, the said they found the woman with a blood covered face, a bruised and swollen cheek and a swollen right cheek.
Zawistowski was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox on Nov. 16 and remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Online court records show Zawistowski was unable to post bail at the time of his arraignment. He is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton on Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.
Juvenile sexually assaulted in Wilmot Twp.
State police said a 15-year-old female was touched in a non-consensual sexual manner between the dates of Nov. 15 and Nov. 16 in Wilmot Township.
Police are continuing to investigate the case, they said.
Two charged in domestic dispute
Elizabeth Whitmore, 59, and Jacob Huizinga, 50, both of Rome, have been charged with harassment relating to a Nov. 17 incident on the 10000 block of LeRaysville Road in Windham Township.
According to police, both individuals were intoxicated and engaged in a physical altercation inside a private residence.
Fuel stolen
State police are reporting that an unknown person or persons removed approximately 35 gallons of fuel from Linde Corporation at a pipeline site on State Route 706 about a mile north of Camptown in Wyalusing Township.
Police said the theft occurred between Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 5 a.m..
Theft in Rome Twp.
A debit card stolen from a 67-year-old man was used to make fraudulent, unauthorized charges on Nov. 20, state police said.
The card was stolen from a house on the 100 block of Bliss Road in Rome Township, police said.
Drug charges
Erin Nicole Jerger, 24, has been charged by state police with disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a Nov. 16 incident on State Route 220 in New Albany Borough.
Police said Jerger was under the influence of drugs when the arrest occurred.
According to court records, Jerger was arraigned on the night of her arrest by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and committed to the Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $7,500 bail.
Canton man charged with simple assault
Canton police said a Canton man has been charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and careless driving for a recent incident in the borough.
According to a news release, at approximately 1:05 p.m. on Nov. 15, Canton police were dispatched to 272 E. Union St. in the borough for a possible assault. Police arrived on the scene and spoke to the victim, who was identified as Gregory Smith, no age or address given, who works for Schoonover Plumbing and Heating. He was at the residence to convert an oven to natural gas. Smith said while working inside the house, he heard a loud boom and moments later a Matthew Wilbur, who lives at 272 E. Union St., came into the house. Wilbur accused Smith of having an affair with his girlfriend, who also resides at 272 E. Union St., while at the same time grabbing Smith's shirt and taking a couple swings at Smith. Smith said that Wilbur connected with his right jaw twice, before he was able to push Wilbur off. At this time, Smith left the residence.
Police said that Wilbur, prior to the incident, arrived home from hunting, and saw the Schoonover vehicle parked in front of his residence. At this time, he became angry and went to turn into his driveway, missed the driveway and ran into the cemetery fence and over a concrete/stone post. Wilbur has been charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and careless driving, police said.
Man charged with aggravated assault in Canton
Canton police reported that Rocky Lee Brown has been charged with aggravated assault; recklessly endangering another person; disorderly conduct, engaged in fighting; simple assault; public drunkenness; and harassment following a recent incident in the borough.
According to a news release, Canton police were informed at 11:50 p.m. on Nov. 10 of a fight that occurred in the parking lot of the Canton Moose earlier that night. A witness came forth and said that he saw the victim, identified as Gale Richard Hartford, no age or address given, and the offender, identified as Rocky Lee Brown, no age or address given. Both men were seen arguing inside the Moose, before both men went outside, where a physical fight between the two was witnessed.
Police said that the witness said that when he saw Brown standing over top of Hartford, striking him about the face, that's when he and another individual pulled Brown off the victim. Hartford was taken to the Robert Packer Hospital and was placed in the intensive care unit. Hartford has a broken jaw, fractured skull and bleeding from his brain and cuts on his chin and head that required stitches, according to police.
Police contacted Rocky Lee Brown and Brown came in and gave Canton police a statement. Brown admitted to Canton police that he was the one who assaulted Hartford, police said. At this time, Brown was arrested and taken before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and then committed to the Bradford County Correctional Facility.
According to Wilcox's office, Brown's preliminary hearing has been continued to 1:45 p.m. Dec. 4. No information was available from Robert Packer Hospital Thursday evening regarding Hartford.
Criminal mischief occurs in Cherry Township
Someone recently damaged the post of a mailbox, which is owned by Dushore resident Melvin Simpson, police said.
The incident occurred sometime on Monday or Tuesday along Gainer Hill Road in Cherry Township, state police said.

Woman pleads guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia in New Albany
Erin Nicole Jerger, whose last known address is in Towanda, recently pleaded guilty in Towanda District Court to possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show.
The charge stems from a Nov. 16 incident in New Albany in which she was in possession of baggie that had a residue that field-tested positive for bath salts, police said. She was also in possession of a small glass pipe at the time, police said.
Jerger, 24, told police that she had smoked bath salts the night before, according to state police at Towanda.
Ulster man charged with assault
Anthony Charles Sidonio, 49, of Ulster is accused of punching a man several times in the face in the parking lot of the Wayside bar in Towanda Township, police said.
As a result of this incident, which occurred on Nov. 15, Sidonio has been charged with simple assault and harassment, according to the state police at Towanda.
Towanda woman faces drug charges
Michelle Renee Gordon, 39, of Towanda is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 2 in Bradford County Court on charges of delivery of a controlled substance and possession of controlled substance, court records show.
The charges stem from a Feb. 26 incident in which Gordon sold five Percocet pills to another individual in Towanda for $60, Towanda police said.
