State police at Tunkhannock are investigating a hit-and-run accident in Monroe Township on Monday.
Police said Lee R. Kozokas, 24, of Trucksville, was driving south on state Route 29 in a 2001 Audi at an apparent high rate of speed at 4:35 p.m. As Kozokas turned right onto Voyle Traver Road, he struck a roadside traffic sign and lost control of the vehicle. The front of the car hit an embankment on the north side of the road and apparently became disabled.
Kozokas fled the crash scene on foot before police arrived.
Plains Township police reported the following:
n Police said a woman's passenger side window was smashed and clothing was stolen from her vehicle at about 6:10 p.m. Friday outside Danko's Fitness Center on River Street.
n Junius Bernardoni told police that the tailgate attached to his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen Monday night while parked outside the Best Western Inn.
Jackson Township police are investigating a burglary that happened around 1 p.m. Wednesday at 1866 Huntsville Road. A thief entered a detached garage on the property, took miscellaneous scrap metal and sold the metal at a local scrap yard. Police said they have a suspect.
