CHESTERFIELD - Chesterfield County Police have stepped up countywide traffic safety patrols in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday and in conjunction with the national Click It or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaigns.

Police remind motorists to use safe driving habits and wear seat belts every time they get behind the wheel. Also, remember that children up to age 8 must be secured in child safety seats.

Drivers who are stopped for other violations and found not to be wearing a safety belt will be ticketed. Additionally, if anyone in the vehicle under the age of 18 is not wearing a safety belt, or a child under the age of 8 is not properly secured in a child safety seat, the driver will be ticketed.

Officers will also be conducting a number of high-visibility DUI enforcement operations throughout the holidays.
