Towanda man charged
Toris Sylvester Garner Sr., 37, of Towanda has been charged with rape, sexual assault, two counts of aggravated indecent assault and three counts of indecent assault after state police say he raped an 18-year-old female victim on Nov. 26 between 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. in Standing Stone Township.
Garner faced a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw and was remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $200,000 bail.
He is scheduled to appear before District Judge Fred Wheaton on Dec. 3 at 1:30 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.
Police said at the time of his arrest Garner had an active arrest warrant in the state of Ohio, but police did not list what he is wanted for.
Police took Garner into custody approximately one hour after the alleged rape occurred.
