DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Phillip M. Baker, 30, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on Sept. 15, on North Lehigh Avenue in Sayre. Baker has also been charged with careless driving. A blood alcohol test revealed that Baker's blood alcohol content was .18 percent on the day of his arrest. Baker has been sent a summons to appear Feb. 4 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Raymond Gerald Vanderpool, 54, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on Dec. 14, on Desmond Street in Sayre. Vanderpool has also been charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license. A blood alcohol test revealed that Vanderpool's blood alcohol content was .23 percent on the day of his arrest. Vanderpool has been sent a summons to appear Jan. 28 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Jacob Randall Schmidt, 23, of Hughesville, Pa., by Athens Borough police, on Dec. 28, on Edward Street in Athens. Schmidt has also been charged with failure to keep right, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to use a turn signal and violating required position and method of turning. A blood alcohol test revealed that Schmidt's blood alcohol content was .15 percent on the day of his arrest. Schmidt has been sent a summons to appear Jan. 28 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Woman charged with making threats

A Sayre woman was recently charged with making terroristic threats by Athens Borough police.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Faith Vandyke, 35, was also charged with harassment.

Police said Vandyke threatened to burn down the house of a borough resident and threatened two people on various occasions.

Vandyke's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 28.

Woman charged in hit-and-run

A Sayre woman was recently charged with leaving the scene of an accident by Sayre Borough police.

According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Rachel J. Marrero, 29, was also charged with failure to give information and render aid and operating a vehicle without a license.

Police said a vehicle operated by Marrero struck an occupied vehicle at about 5:20 p.m. Dec. 20 at Spring and Bradford streets, then fled the scene. Marrero had a suspended license at the time of the accident, police said.

Marrero's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 28.

Two charged following altercation

Athens Township police recently charged two women with simple assault following a Dec. 31 altercation at the Sayre VFW on Lockhart Street.

According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Rebecca A. Aseline, 37, and Dawn Marie Miller, 38, were each also charged with disorderly conduct and harassment by physical contact.

Police said Aseline, Miller and two other individuals were involved in an altercation in the lobby area of the VFW at about 11:15 p.m. Dec. 31. According to police, Aseline and Miller were both taken to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment of injuries related to the fight.

Both Aseline and Miller are scheduled to appear Feb. 18 at preliminary hearings before Judge Shaw.

One vehicle accident in Terry Twp.

John Voda, 45, of Wyalusing has been charged by state police with careless driving relating to a one vehicle accident on Wyalusing New Albany Road in Terry Township on Dec. 27.

According to police, Voda was traveling up hill and exiting a left curve when he crossed lanes and struck an embankment.

The 2006 Dodge Ram then rolled onto its drivers side and came to a rest blocking both lanes of travel.

Police said it is not known if Voda was injured during the accident.
