Man charged with simple assault
A Gillett man has been sent a summons to appear before Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark to answer a charge of simple assault.
According to information filed at Clark's office, Joseph William Jennings, 28, has also been charged by Towanda police with harassment. Jennings is accused of striking Cassandra Owen on Feb. 11 in Towanda Borough during a domestic incident.
Jennings is scheduled to appear for his preliminary hearing before Judge Clark on Feb. 26.
Man accused of unauthorized use of vehicle
A Mildred man was arrested by state police recently on a charge of unauthorized use of an automobile.
According to papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark, Kyle Keith Joines, 27, was charged with the above offense following an incident on Nov. 18 in Albany Township. Joines is accused of borrowing a vehicle owned by Donald Gilbert and not returning it within a specific time period.
Gilbert was arraigned before Judge Clark, who ordered the defendant incarcerated on $10,000 bail. Gilbert's preliminary hearing is scheduled today before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.
Man faces simple assault charge
A Towanda man was recently arrested by state police on a charge of simple assault.
Papers filed with Magisterial District Judge Tim Clark indicated that Frederick Douglas Bombacie, 58, has also been charged with harassment. Bombacie is accused of striking and injuring Lora Thetga during a domestic dispute on Feb. 15 in Towanda Borough.
Bombacie has been sent a summons to appear before Judge Clark today for his preliminary hearing.
Accident occurs in Standing Stone
No one was injured in a recent motor vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Route 6 and Keene Summit Road in Standing Stone Township, police said.
The accident occurred when 32-year-old Jason Allen Gallagher of Wyalusing, who was traveling south on Keene Summit Road, lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway, police said.
Gallagher failed to stop for a posted stop sign, and his 2012 Ford F-150 traveled onto Route 6 and struck a vehicle that was traveling east on Route 6, police said.
Both vehicles had to be towed, state police said.
The accident occurred at 6:35 a.m. on Wednesday, police said.
Gallagher was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, state police at Towanda said.
