DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Richard J. Meeker, 25, of Sayre, by Sayre Borough police, on Feb. 2, on Cayuta Street in Sayre. Meeker has also been charged with violation of accidents involving property damage, operating a vehicle without insurance and operating a vehicle without a valid license. A blood alcohol test revealed that Meeker's blood alcohol content was .22 percent on the day of his arrest. Meeker has been sent a summons to appear March 25 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Fugitive from justice arrested

A Sheshequin Township man was recently arrested by state police at Towanda as a fugitive from justice.

According to information from state police, Kevin Clifton Sorensen, 49, was taken into custody Feb. 24 at a Woodside Terrace address. Sorensen had a warrant out of New York State, police said.

Sorensen was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and was remanded to the Bradford County Jail awaiting extradition.

Police investigate MVA

State police at Towanda recently investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident in Wyalusing Township.

According to state police, at about 3:40 p.m. Feb. 19, a 2013 GMC Sierra operated by Alex R. Coury, 53, of Canonsburg, Pa., left the roadway and began to travel in the western berm of state Route 706, just south of Camptown Street. The vehicle then traveled through a small ditch and struck a tree head-on, police said.

The vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Downtown Auto, police said. Coury was uninjured and wore a seatbelt, police said.

Police cited Coury for violating driving on roadways laned for travel, police said.

State police investigate harassment

State police at Towanda recently filed harassment charges against a Gillett man in district court.

According to state police, Casey Lewis Serfas, 22, is accused of sending several text messages Feb. 21 to an 18-year-old female of Milan after police advised Serfas not to have any contact with her. Anyone with further information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.
