Sayre bar cited for liquor law violation
A Sayre establishment was recently cited by the state Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for violating the state's liquor laws.
According to a release from the bureau's Montoursville office, the Valley House at 112 W. Lockhart St. was issued a citation March 6 for violations that occurred between Feb. and July 2013. The bureau said the Valley House failed to maintain complete records covering the business' operation, refilled liquor bottles, engaged in deceptive business practices and paid for purchases of malt or brewed beverages by means other than licensee's checks, cashier's checks or money orders.
The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge, according to the bureau.
Man charged with harassment
State police at Towanda recently investigated a harassment incident in Smithfield Township.
According to information from state police, an unnamed 51-year-old male of Ulster sent a threatening text message to an adult female victim March 12.
Barn doors damaged
State police at Towanda are investigating a burglary and criminal trespass incident in Ulster Township.
According to state police, an unknown actor damaged the doors to a Noble Road barn and unlawfully entered the structure sometime on March 13 or 14. The actor then fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Towanda man charged with aggravated assault
A Towanda man was recently arrested by Athens Borough police on a charge of aggravated assault.
According to information filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw, Christopher Edward Johnson, 24, was also charged with simple assault and harassment.
Police said Johnson attempted to cut and stab a male with a folding knife during a March 18 incident at South River and Susquehanna streets.
Johnson was arraigned March 19 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and released from the Bradford County Jail on non-monetary bail. Johnson's preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 25.
Canton woman injured in crash
A Canton woman was injured recently in a motor vehicle accident in Fox Township, Sullivan County, police said.
Heather N. Selfridge, 33, was traveling south on Tompkins Road at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday when she lost control of her vehicle, police said.
The vehicle traveled up an embankment before flipping onto its side, state police at Laporte said.
Selfridge was transported to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital, where she was evaluated and released with moderate injuries, state police said.
Laceyville man accused of theft
Rex John Peters, 24, of Laceyville is accused of stealing 30 pounds of copper and a catalytic converter from Fenton's Scrap in Wyoming County, police said.
Peters then sold the copper to Towanda Iron & Metal for $84 at approximately 10 a.m. on Dec. 10, state police at Tunkhannock said.
Peters has been charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property, police said.
Peters has been sent a summons to appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on April 25.
Man accused of attempted theft in Sheshequin Twp.
Carlton Edward Heasley, 32, of Gillett is accused of rummaging through a medicine cabinet in a James Street residence in Sheshequin Township in an attempt to locate and steal pain medication, police said.
The incident occurred while Heasley was working as a subcontractor for Direct TV, state police at Towanda said.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. on March 4, police said.
As a result of this incident, Heasley has been charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, police said.
Heasley has been sent a summons which orders him to appear before Towanda Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark on April 25.
