DUI charges

The following people were recently charged with driving while under the influence in Bradford County:

Christine Marie Wheeler, 35, of Wysox, by Athens Township police, on April 4, at routes 220 and 199 in Athens. Wheeler has also been charged with failure to keep right and careless driving. Wheeler refused a blood test to determine her blood alcohol content. Wheeler was arraigned April 5 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. Wheeler is scheduled to appear April 15 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Cesar Padilla, 31, of Houston, Texas, by Athens Borough police, on April 6, on North Elmira Street in Athens. Padilla has also been charged with failure to keep right and driving without a valid license. Padilla agreed to submit to a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content. Padilla was arraigned April 6 by Magisterial District Judge Timothy Clark and remanded to the Bradford County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. Padilla is scheduled to appear April 15 before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw for a preliminary hearing.

Waverly police make arrests

Waverly village police recently arrested the following people, according to the Waverly Police Department:

Edward A. Sherman, 47, of Barton, on April 1, for driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said Sherman was arrested on Broad Street and was found to illegally possess 43 Alazropam pills at the time of his arrest. Sherman was arraigned in Waverly Village Court and sent to the Tioga County Jail.

Brenda M. Gochenaur, 45, no address given, on April 1, for criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said Gochenaur was found to illegally possess a fentanyl patch. Gochenaur was released to appear in Waverly Village Court at a later date.

Veronique M. Rivera, 25, of Waverly, on March 23, for endangering the welfare of a child, following investigation into a disturbance call. Police said Rivera caused a physical altercation with a family member, placing a one-year-old child in danger. Rivera was arraigned in Waverly Village Court and was remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Kevin R. Wurth, 48, of Owego, on March 26, on a bench warrant for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Wurth was arraigned in Waverly Village Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $285 bail.

Christopher Dolan, 40, of Waverly, on March 22, for menacing, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said Dolan was arrested following investigation into a disturbance in which he is accused of holding another person against his will with a hammer in the presence of a child. Dolan was issued a ticket to appear in Waverly Village Court at a later date.

Police also cited Tom M. Ackley Jr., 27, of Waverly, for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a March 28 traffic stop on Broad Street.
